Career outlook

The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that from 2008 to 2018, 26 percent of all new jobs created in the U.S. economy will be in the health care and social assistance industry. This industry is expected to grow by 24 percent, creating four million new jobs.

PA (Physician Assistant)

PAs are medical practitioners who work as a team with physicians for the care, diagnosis and treatment of patients. They practice in private practices, clinics and hospitals, as well as other health care institutions. PAs serve in fields ranging from general practitioner to various surgical specialties.

Pre-Physician Assistant

The Mount’s pre-physician assistant track of study prepares you well for a two-year Master’s degree that is comprised of both classroom and clinical experience. The Mount recommends students interested in pre-physician assistant studies choose a major in biomedical sciences.
