The Mount's new “MSJ x Metro Ride Free” Program allows eligible members of the Mount Community to ride Cincinnati Metro buses at no cost throughout the Spring and Summer semesters.
CINCINNATI – Mount St. Joseph University (MSJ) is proud to announce a new partnership with Cincinnati Metro that will provide free public bus transportation to all MSJ students and employees through August 14, 2026, expanding access to campus, employment, sports and cultural destinations, and the Greater Cincinnati region. The new “MSJ x Metro Ride Free” Program allows eligible members of the Mount Community to ride Cincinnati Metro buses at no cost throughout the Spring and Summer semesters. Cincinnati Metro is southwest Ohio’s public transit system, serving Hamilton County, with additional routes in Clermont, Butler, and Warren counties, including two stops (routes 36 and 77) located directly on Mount St. Joseph University’s campus.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to removing barriers and supporting the well-being, mobility, and success of our students and employees,” said Dr. H. James Williams, president of Mount St. Joseph University. “By offering free access to public transportation, we are opening doors to opportunity.”
Cincinnati Metro operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, providing safe, reliable, and convenient transportation throughout the region. Through its “Reinventing Metro” plan, Metro is reimagining public transit by enhancing the rider experience, expanding routes, increasing service frequency, and upgrading bus amenities.
To celebrate the launch of the program, Mount St. Joseph University and Cincinnati Metro hosted a kick off event on campus last week. A “Reinventing Metro” bus was on site for tours, and Metro staff shared information about routes serving campus and destinations across the region, including The Banks, downtown stadiums, theaters, Clifton, Mount Adams, and more.
The University credits collaboration across campus departments for making the initiative possible, including the Wellness Center, campus police department, and the Center for Mission & Belonging.
“This program is about more than transportation,” added Dr. Williams. “It’s about accessibility, and encouraging our community to explore the many benefits of public transit, whether for daily commuting, attending events, or enjoying everything our region has to offer.”
