Clinical Director Teresa Groh and PA students share evidence-based approaches to effective clinical precepting

oapa 2025

The 2025 OAPA Annual Conference is an in-person event for physician assistants to expand their professional network, deepen their medical knowledge, and engage with the statewide PA community. Attendees can connect with PAs from across Ohio, participate in educational sessions led by experienced clinicians, and explore exhibitor offerings—including innovative clinical tools and recruitment opportunities.

Mount St. Joseph University was represented at the conference by Teresa Groh, Clinical Director of the Physician Assistant Studies program, along with clinical-year PA students Joey Mullen and Sam Catania. Groh presented a session titled Precepting with Purpose: Shaping Tomorrow’s PAs Today, which focused on effective teaching strategies for clinical preceptors.

“My presentation, titled Precepting with Purpose: Shaping Tomorrow’s PAs Today, highlighted effective teaching strategies for clinical preceptors. Two of our clinical-year PA students, Joey Mullen and Sam Catania, contributed by sharing their firsthand experiences from rotations. The session focused on evidence-based approaches to clinical teaching, with particular emphasis on the One-Minute Preceptor method—a structured, time-efficient model that promotes active learning and provides students with real-time, formative feedback during their clinical rotations.” Teresa Groh, PA Clinical Director

Congratulations to Teresa Groh and clinical-year PA students Joey Mullen and Sam Catania on their impactful presentation at the 2025 OAPA Annual Conference. Their collaboration highlights Mount St. Joseph University’s commitment to excellence in physician assistant education and the preparation of future PAs through meaningful, evidence-based clinical training
