Mount St. Joseph University’s Department of Creative Arts would like to congratulate Sophia Motz, for receiving the Cincinnati Art Club’s 2025 second-place scholarship!

Cincinnati Art Club was created in 1890 by local Cincinnati artists to gather in a social setting and spread their love for visual art across the community. For 135 years, the Cincinnati Art Club has been dedicated to advancing professional and aspiring artists' careers. The club has established the Greater Cincinnati Artists' Assistance Fund (GCAAF) for any visual artist, Club member or not, who needs financial aid.
In the scholarship essay, Sophia Motz, a Junior Graphic Design major, claims “that life and art are about learning, growing, and expression, and the ways one can learn or grow in one sense can be applied to the other, even if through obscure means.” She seeks to push herself to try new things and find new ways of doing things. She continues to study both art and life, and she thinks that the two are closely tied together.
The Department of Creative Arts is beyond excited to see Sophia’s artistic talent be recognized by the Cincinnati Art Club! Congratulations to Sophia!
