Read below to find out more information about Claudia’s time at the Mount and her involvement with MSJ’s Theatre Program!

1. Why did you choose the Mount?

I chose the Mount because I got a good academic scholarship, the smaller class sizes provided me with opportunities to get to know and work with my professors, and the various organizations and clubs around campus allowed me to explore outside of my classes.

2. What is your major?

My major is biomedical sciences with a pre-veterinary concentration.

3. What inspired you to pursue your major and theatre?

What inspired me to pursue a degree in biomedical sciences is my love for science and animals. I have always enjoyed the challenge and discovery that science has to offer. In addition, theatre has always been a constant in my life and I am lucky to have had the privilege to participate in theatre here at MSJ for the past 3 years.

4. What is your favorite part about being in the theatre program?

I would have to say that my favorite part about being in the theatre program at MSJ is the sense of community and supportive atmosphere we create. Whether we are rehearsing scenes, memorizing lines with each other, hanging out after rehearsal, or performing our hearts out for a show, we are like a family that is always there to support each other.

5. What has been your favorite production you’ve worked on so far?

My favorite production at MSJ that I have worked on so far has been Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley, where I played Lydia Wickham.

6. What is your favorite aspect of MARIAN, or the True Tale of Robin Hood and the character Marian/Robin Hood?

My favorite aspect of Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood is the stage combat that is used throughout the show. It has been an exciting and new experience learning to use unique weapons such as a frying pan, pickaxe, quarterstaff, and of course bow and arrows as a part of this stage combat! My favorite aspect of my character Marian/Robin is that the heroic role of Robin Hood is actually Marian in disguise! Getting the opportunity to portray this character in a new light and also delving more deeply into Marian’s story, which is not often told about, has been an enlightening journey.

7. Do you have an idea of what career you would like to pursue post-graduation?

Post-graduation, I am looking to have a career in research and possibly after a few years of experience, apply to veterinary school to become a veterinarian.

Good luck to Claudia and the entire cast and crew of MARIAN, or the True Tale of Robin Hood as they prepare to kick off their performance showings!
