Mount St. Joseph University Doctor of Nursing Practice student Shaunda Dawson is helping transform the childbirth experience at UC Health by putting mothers at the center of their care and birth journey.
Shaunda Dawson, a nurse educator specializing in women’s health at UC Health, was recently featured on FOX 19 News for her work helping implement “TeamBirth” at UC Health. The approach brings mothers, their families, and their care teams together as partners throughout the childbirth experience, emphasizing communication, collaboration, and shared decision-making.
Through her work, Shaunda is helping create a maternity care experience where mothers have a voice in their birth journey and are active participants in decisions about their care.
Shaunda Dawson previously was featured by Mount St. Joseph University for her commitment to nursing, education, service and building connections within the community. As she continues her Doctor of Nursing Practice studies at the Mount, she is applying her passion for women's health and nursing education to help improve care for mothers and families throughout the Cincinnati community.
