“In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” -1 Thessalonians 5:18

Mount St. Joseph News

Dear Mount Community:

During this season of gratitude, I write to express my sincerest thanks to you, for choosing the Mount as your educational institution: your home away from home; your workplace; where you donate your time, treasures, and talents; or, where you visit for sports, cultural, and community!  Whatever meaning the Mount may have in your life, know that your engagement makes us a stronger and more vibrant Community, and that your unique contributions are valued, immensely.

I also express my profound thanks to our Foundresses, the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, for the lasting and transformative impact they have had on the Mount, the Greater Cincinnati community, and beyond.  For more than 170 years, the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati have been a beacon of hope, inspiration, and social justice for all.  We are incredibly fortunate that they remain ever-present on our campus and in our hearts.

This semester, there are countless academic and extracurricular achievements for which we are extraordinarily proud and grateful.  Notably, the Mount’s recent enrollment achievements have allowed us to invest in the modernization of several campus facilities and to add another Campus Icon.

  • Welcome Center – The Office of Admissions, in the Seton Center, which welcomes all current and prospective students, was recently renovated to highlight our multifaceted, dynamic, and supportive living and learning community.

  • E-Sports Arena – A large area on first floor of the Harrington Center has been revitalized into the new E-Sports Arena, which is the most powerful arena in the Greater Cincinnati Region, with a 24-PC arena, a 36-PC dual-purpose space, a broadcast room, a film review room, and a student lounge area.

  • Seton Center Lobby – The main floor of the Seton Center is in the final stages of a complete renovation, with the removal of barrier walls, the addition of new lighting, flooring, and glass around the staircase, a renovated Welcome Desk, and additional furniture for studying and lounging, consistent with the original Mid-Century Modern architecture of the building.

  • MSJ Giant,Yellow, Adirondack Chair – An over-sized, indeed giant, Adirondack chair, with the MSJ logo, has been placed prominently on campus, between the Quad and the Harrington Center, and serves as another Campus Icon.

These exciting enhancements to our campus reflect our commitment to innovation and celebrate the tremendous momentum being experienced at the University.  I am grateful for all who were part of executing these improvements to our beautiful campus, which will benefit our students and the Mount for years to come.

In closing, on behalf of Carole and myself, we are forever grateful – and abundantly blessed – to be part of this phenomenal Community!  May all of you have a blessed Thanksgiving with your family and friends.

Happy Thanksgiving – and Go Lions!

Sincerely,

H. James Williams, Ph.D.
