Biography:

A lifelong Cincinnatian, Kate graduated from the College of Mount Saint Joseph in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in English, along with licensure in both Secondary Education and Reading Specialist, and a fantastic four years in the volleyball program. She then earned her master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Curriculum from Miami University in 2002. She spent 22 years at Mother of Mercy High School, teaching in the English Department where she taught HerStory, a college-credited women’s studies course, as well as a broad range of literature courses. Additionally, Kate earned a Master Teacher designation in 2015 from the State of Ohio and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. "Working with student leaders was also an important part of my career," she says as she served as moderator of many clubs and eventually as the Director of Student Activities.

Kate shifted into the college ranks in 2018, serving as an English adjunct at Mount St. Joseph University, teaching both Written Word and Survey of Women Writers. She taught at Cincinnati State Community College in the Leadership Certificate Program and the First-Year Experience Department, and she also contributed to curriculum and instructional design. Kate won the inaugural Adjunct Excellence Award for the 2020-21 school year, for which she's incredibly grateful.  She also spent two years with Miami University, mentoring students from the Oxford and Regional Campuses as well as teaching courses in their first-year transition program.

Kate is most excited to be back at her alma mater and teaching once again! Besides teaching as an adjunct in the English and Common Core departments, she is also the Director of MSJ's First-Year Programming and work to help incoming students as they transition to their college career.
