Spring break is on the way, and a week off of school is calling our names!

Spring break can be a time of relaxation or adventure. I know in college, when you ask individuals what their plans are, you’re going to get many different answers. Some people may be working, getting that extra money while they can. Some people may be spending time with their friends and family that they don’t see a lot. Some might be going on a fun vacation. No matter what thought, all plans are worth celebrating!

This spring break looks a little different for me. This is the first year since being in college that my friends and I are going on a trip. The majority of the group is graduating in May, so we wanted to do one last hurrah! I usually am one of those people that relax and make extra money during break, but I am ecstatic to create some great memories this time around! We’re going to Tennessee for a few days to getaway and relax in the outdoors! Girls trip 2026 is on the way for us!

Many other students are also going on vacation this spring break, but specifically for school. I spoke to the Hirt sisters, Sophie and Sady, who are going to Washington D.C. for their trip. They are headed down with some other students from their HON 263 Museums, Monuments and Meaning class which is taught by Jim Bodle and Buffy Barkley, who will be leading the trip. Some of the big stops on this trip will be the MLK memorial, Arlington Cemetery, and the Lincoln memorial.

Sady says, “I’ve actually never been to Washington D.C. so I am super excited to learn about the history and all of the places in DC.” Sophie is "most excited to see the National Museum of American History” and she can’t wait for all the memories she will get to make with her class! This sounds like a fantastic trip, and I can’t wait to see all of their photos!

The men’s volleyball team is going away this spring break, so good luck boys! According to Will Croft, the team will be gone March 7 to 14, and will compete against two teams in Manhattan and one in New Jersey.

“One or two days we will be sightseeing as a team,” he says. “We might be able to play sand volleyball in Central Park. I’ve never been to New York City, so I am excited.”

No matter what this week off will look like for you, remember to take time for yourself. Give yourself some rest, grace, and love. You work so hard throughout the semester, so you deserve to treat yourself during break. So, have fun, make memories, and be safe. Lions!
