Marketing majors participate in focused learning of concepts, theories and professional practice related to understanding consumer needs, developing compelling strategies, and delivering creative content and experiences.

Students learn how to match a firm’s unique capabilities and with the needs and opportunities of an ever-changing marketplace. The marketing curriculum includes courses in market research, consumer behavior, retailing, digital marketing, international marketing, and managerial marketing. Students have the option to engage a co-op experience or earn service-learning credit by working with community partners.

At the conclusion of the program, students will be able to analyze research data to identify target markets and evaluate the impact of social, environmental, and psychological influences on consumers’ decisions. Students will have demonstrated the ability to evaluate comprehensive marketing plans and to communicate cohesive and compelling multichannel messaging strategies. Students will be prepared to grow brand relationships and maximize lifetime customer value.

Marketing students have the opportunity to enroll in the 4+1 M.B.A. program during their senior year. The 4+1 program gives students the ability to graduate with two degrees in five years: Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a Master of Business Administration.

Hands-On Learning:

Co-op and service learning immerse students in the real world and provide rich opportunities for experiential learning and the application of skills and knowledge learned in the classroom. Students work under the supervision of a faculty member and an agency professional in a variety of non-profit and for-profit organizations and community partners.

Business students are encouraged to take advantage of co-op opportunities and a variety of career services and programs available through the university Career and Experiential Education Center

Open to full-time students, the innovative Talent Opportunity Program (TOP) allows students to build skills in career planning, professionalism and ethical leadership from freshman year to graduation.
