How to Apply

High School seniors may apply for the Mount St. Joseph University’s Art & Design Scholarship Competition 2018.

To be eligible for a scholarship, seniors must apply and be admitted to the Mount.

*Note: All application fees are waived until December 1, 2017. Any application after that date (and by the portfolio deadline of Jan. 15, 2018) should use the promo code ART17 for a waiver of the application fee. Apply at www.msj.edu/apply.

Digital Portfolio

Submit a portfolio of your best work (from 8 to 12 examples) that exhibits a variety of 2-D and 3-D art and design skills and creativity. The work should express individuality in content, style, and technique. Portfolio submissions MUST be in digital format. Your name, address, e-mail, and school name must be written on the CD, DVD, or flashdrive.

*Note: Be sure to check your CD, DVD, or flashdrive on a different computer than your own to make sure your images appear as you intend them to look. The inability of the jurors to see the electronic images will disqualify the portfolio.

Include the following items with the digital portfolio:

  1. A short letter or essay articulating your reasons for wanting to study art and design at the Mount and the importance of art and design in your life. Indicate the areas of study you are most interested in pursuing. Include your name, address, e-mail, and school name.
  2. A letter of recommendation from your high school art instructor.
  3. A transcript of grades.
  4. An inventory of the art and design works included in the portfolio (title, media, date).

The portfolios will be juried by art and design faculty with email notifications sent by March 1st.

Scholarship portfolios are due January 15, 2018 by 5 p.m. to:
