Biography:

Patrick Cafferty is Emeritus Faculty at Mount St. Joseph University. He was an Associate Professor and the Founding Chair of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies in the School of Health Sciences.  Before being recruited to the Mount in 2015, he had received his MPAS in Neurosurgery, from the University of Nebraska, and completed a postgraduate residency in surgery at the Norwalk Hospital/Yale University School of Medicine. Professor Cafferty has been a practicing PA and educator for the past 35 years.  He has been actively involved with both state and national PA organizations, as well as representing the PA community to the American Medical Association’s CPT Editorial Panel since 1994.  

Patrick has published extensively, including several board review textbooks, book chapters, along with numerous peer reviewed journal articles.  He has been recognized as a Distinguished Fellow of the AAPA, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pain Management, Kentucky’s PA of the Year and was inducted into the University of Kentucky’s Alumni Hall of Fame in 2007. 

In his free time, Patrick enjoys golfing, motorcycling and spending time with his wife, Karen.
