The College of Mount St. Joseph and the Butler and Warren County Educational Service Centers have formed a partnership for three graduate-level education programs.

The Mount’s Teacher Education Apprenticeship Masters Multicultural Special Education (TEAM-MSE) program prepares teachers to work with children with special needs from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds. The TEAM-MSE program is the only one of its kind in the Greater Cincinnati area. This program will now be offered at the Butler and Warren County Educational Service Centers to provide teachers and individuals who wish to pursue a special education license a convenient pathway to receive their license and a master’s degree.

The TEAM-MSE program allows teachers to earn a second license in special education in five semesters, or an initial license (Alternative Residence Educator License) and master’s degree in six to seven semesters.  Students in the second licensure track may select either a fully online or a blended (combination of online and face-to-face meetings) course format.

The program also offers a fully online pre-kindergarten special needs endorsement for teachers with a current Ohio teaching license in early childhood or special education to expand their teaching credentials to include children ages three to five with special needs. This endorsement-only track may be completed in two semesters.

“We are pleased to offer the TEAM-MSE program in Butler and Warren Counties,” said Clarissa Rosas, Ph.D., TEAM-MSE program director. “Offering a cohort in the northern Cincinnati area allows teachers who live in these areas to have an opportunity to earn a Mount degree without having to commute to Delhi.”

Information sessions on all three programs will be held at Warren County Educational Service Center on Oct. 28 at 4:30 and at Butler County Educational Service Center on Nov. 4 at 4:30. All three programs are accepting students for a January, 2014 start date.

The College of Mount St. Joseph is an undergraduate and graduate Catholic college that provides an interdisciplinary liberal arts and professional curriculum emphasizing values, service and social responsibility.
