The Mount invites you to come support our Doctor of Physical Therapy students in the 6th annual Crosstown Splint Off, an interprofessional and intercollegiate event between the Mount, UC, and Xavier on February 6, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Mount in the Health Sciences classrooms 1, 2, and 4 located in the ground floor of Seton Lobby.
As a part of the orthopedics coursework in the Mount's DPT program, students will make sculptures out of splinting material to help familiarize themselves with how to handle the splinting material and the properties of different materials before making actual splints for patients. This event takes the top four sculptures from each school to be judged for the winner of the Crosstown Splint Off.
This year, the event will also feature a “Live Splint-Off” which pits five teams of three students (one from each school) to make a splint on the topic of the year and they will have 30 minutes to do this. These will be judged for additional prizes.
"It’s a fun event that allows the students to interact with students and faculty from other programs, as well as the opportunity to interact with practicing health care professionals and administrators," says Michael Obert, instructor of physical therapy.
