Sam Barth, a third generation graduate of Mount St. Joseph University, earned a degree in athletic training in 2017. Sam continues to live out the Legacy of a Lion during his master's program at the University of Brighton in the United Kingdom. Sam chose the Mount because of its excellence in the health sciences and the family legacy.

Sam loved his time at the Mount. He was a student athlete trainer for many of the Mount sports, a member of the track and field team, and a student worker at the ISS Helpdesk.  He received numerous accolades while attending, including sports and academic awards.

"I can't say I have a favorite memory as I enjoyed so much at the Mount," Sam says.  "I made excellent friends and always had fun while learning and working. I enjoyed talking to faculty members who came into the helpdesk, working with athletes and the athletic training staff, and the exhausting track and field practices with a close group of friends."

Sam is now studying physiotherapy, with dreams of becoming a physical therapist at the University of Brighton. With additional courses and licensures, he'll be able to practice physical therapy anywhere in the world. Sam also volunteers providing physiotherapy services at local nursing homes and primary schools. Living a life of service is important to Sam.

Congratulation, Sam, and continue to live the #LegacyOfALion in everything you do!

If you know someone who is living out the mission of the Mount beyond college, let us know! Nominate them to be featured as our next #LegacyOfALion by emailing alumni@msj.edu.
