The Mount’s online student newspaper, Dateline, is seeking applications from undergraduate students for positions on next year’s editorial staff. Students can gain valuable experience working as part of a team and writing for publication. Below are descriptions of staff positions available for next year. Each issue involves one staff meeting to plan content and assign stories, usually at noon on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.

Editor: The editor is responsible for all aspects of the paper, but has a staff helping her/him. This includes deciding which stories to cover, finding writers and assigning stories, editing submissions with the help of the advisor, and working with the art editor to place stories.
Art Editor: This person manages Dateline online so should have a good sense of design. This role involves learning the web content editing program, editing pictures for the web, and uploading articles and pictures to the website. He/she should be familiar with computer software.
Associate Editor: This person is responsible for student life content of the paper. This includes deciding on content, assigning and editing stories. This person should have strong organizational, communication, writing and editing skills and a good sense of what stories would interest students.
Sports Editor: This person is responsible for content on the sports page. This includes assigning and editing stories. This editor should have strong organizational, communication, writing and editing skills and a good sense of which sports stories would interest students.
Photographer: This staff member shoots feature photos as assigned and sends digital files to the Editor and Art Editor. Each photo should include identification of those pictures, with accurate spelling of names.
