The Mount men’s golf team has started the 2013 spring season off strong.  At their first tournament, the TaylorMade Adidas intercollegiate, the Lions place fifth with their fifteen team members competing.  With three golfers placing in the top 25, the Lions are looking forward to a great season this spring.

The team, led by head coach Joe Sparhawk, welcomed five freshmen to their roster this season.  Two of these freshmen, Tyler Overberg and Eric Hensler, were among the team members finishing in the top 25 at their first tournament.  With these new freshmen and the returning upperclassmen, the team is looking strong for their remaining matches.

In the fall season two members were given the honor of being an HCAC Player of the Week.  Stephen Beamer and Tom Witterstaetter both represented the men’s team because of their outstanding performances at tournaments.  At the Manchester University Fall Invitational the Lions placed second out of the eleven teams represented.

With a successful fall season behind them, look for the Lions to continue their hard work into this spring season.  With their strong fifth place finish, the spring season looks promising for this Lions team.
