Students in Dr. Tim Lynch's Liberal Arts Seminar visited the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame & Museum Oct. 11. The class, along with several Liberal Arts faculty, were given a private tour by Mount alum Chris Eckes (2000), the Chief Curator and Building, Operations Manager at the Museum.  The seminar--America at Play: Baseball, Bare Knuckles and Back Seats, is an upper-level seminar in the new Liberal Arts major. This seminar examines American society and culture through an exploration of the history of sports, recreation, and leisure. An emphasis is placed upon how these activities affect class identity, gender construction, and race relations. The impact of an emerging mass consumer society is also explored.
