The Campus Ministry Student Club and Impact Cincinnati have come a long way! The Campus Ministry Student Club has implemented many new programs and acquired new members over the years. However, intentions for the club shifted after students attended the Chicago Interfaith Leadership Institute this past summer in Chicago. Impact Cincinnati also was needing a boost after membership changes and a need for more to offer to students at the Mount. So, when the two student clubs were found in a similar situation, we decided to merge!
Many of the same programs between the two clubs will remain the same, but there is now a new mission statement for the new and improved Interfaith Club. This student-run club will implement the service aspect of Impact Cincinnati and the faith aspect of the Campus Ministry Club, which, on a Catholic campus, we recognize to be very much integrated.
Our new mission statement reads: It is the purpose of Interfaith Club to reinforce the values of the Mount’s mission by leading events that bring together all students of all backgrounds. We encourage students to grow spiritually and in community through discussion, service, and sharing of faith.
Certain large events, such as Welcome Week Service Day and Shantytown will remain, but we will be adding more of a reflection to service and adding more action items with our faith-based programs. The club will also continue to collaborate with other clubs on campus, such as working with Habitat for Humanity for the MLK Day of Service. Interfaith Club will continue to collaborate with the recently renamed Office of Mission Integration as well as the Career and Experiential Learning Center. Charissa Qiu, Coordinator of Campus Ministry, will serve as the advisor for the group, and the new executive board is currently forming. The Executive Board includes not only a president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary, but also a development chair.
We hope that this merger will bring about some new faces and new opportunities for the Mount and our community!
