Art Faculty Susan Ruttle Lawrence Honored with OAEA Distinction

Mount St. Joseph University congratulates Susan Ruttle Lawrence for being recognized as the 2018 recipient of the Ohio Art Education Association’s (OAEA) Higher Education Division Award.

The OAEA Awards Chair writes that “Susan Ruttle Lawrence is an excellent example of consistent commitment to students, while promoting art and art education to the school and the greater community.” Lawrence was nominated for the award from a membership of almost 2,000 art educators statewide. This award honors her professionalism, dedication, and creativity, which is demonstrated daily in her work.

Currently the co-director of art education and adjunct faculty member, Lawrence received her M.A. in Art Education from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, and a B.A. in Art Education from the College of Mount St. Joseph. She achieved her National Board Certification for Professional Teaching Standards in Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood/Art in 2003. She also served as a Visual Arts Specialist in the Oak Hills Local School District for 32 years, and she was awarded the Mount’s Adjunct Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award in 2016.

Lawrence will receive her award at the annual development conference of the Ohio Art Education Association, at a dinner on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Kalahari Convention Center, Kilimanjaro Ballroom, in Sandusky, Ohio.
