Our relationship to our neighbor is bound up with our relationship to God; our response to the love of God, saving us through Christ, is shown to be effective in his love and service of people.
-Justice in the World, World Synod of Catholic Bishops, 1971
At the Mount, we view Catholic Social Teaching as an essential part of Catholic faith. We are devoted to promoting the two feet of justice in our community and our world.
Some of our programs include:
Pizza and Ponder is a monthly lunchtime discussion focusing on a different social justice topic each time. Topics can include healthcare, the environment, immigration and poverty. Join us for FREE pizza and a lively discussion. For more information, e-mail Andrea Stiles at andrea_stiles@mail.msj.edu or call (513) 244-4844.
Homelessness Awareness Week (November 17-21) focuses on the problem of homelessness through education, prayer and experience. Help construct Shantytown, an awareness raising activity where participants construct a shelter as a homeless person might do. Participate in our candlelight vigil as we pray for homeless people everywhere. Stay tuned for further developments. For more information, e-mail Kate Welsh at kate_welsh@mail.msj.edu or call (513) 244-4866.
30 Hour Famine is an experience of solidarity with the hungry people of our world. During this 30 hour fast we play social justice monopoly, perform a community service project, and shop on a budget. As a community we fast together, supporting one another as the hunger remains a part of everything we do. For more information, e-mail Kate Welsh at kate_welsh@mail.msj.edu or call (513) 244-4866.
