After you have registered for classes and printed your student bill, you can subtract your financial aid, less any loan fees, and arrive at your out of pocket costs. Payments for these out of pocket costs are due at the published confirmation date before each semester begins. There are several options for these out of pocket costs if you are unable to pay by cash or credit card.
Parent PLUS Loan - Great Lakes
Parents of dependent students may borrow a PLUS loan on behalf of the student. Repayment of principal and interest on a PLUS loan begins no later than 60 days after disbursement of the loan. The loan amount borrowed cannot exceed the total cost of education, less any other financial aid including Stafford loans borrowed by the student. Parents who wish to apply for a PLUS loan should complete the PLUS portion on the back of the MSJ Award Letter, or you may apply for an electronic preapproval with Great Lakes Higher Education.
Graduate PLUS Loan - Great Lakes
Graduate (Grad) PLUS Loans are low interest loans for graduate students attending school at least half-time. These loans are not subsidized and the student must repay the amount borrowed with interest. With a Grad PLUS loan, graduate students can borrow up to the cost of education, less other financial aid received. Grad PLUS loans require a basic credit check, but are not made based on income or assets and require no collateral. Graduate students who wish to apply for a Grad PLUS loan should complete the Grad PLUS portion on the back of the MSJ Award Letter, or you may apply for an electronic preapproval with Great Lakes Higher Education.
Payment Plan
The College of Mount St. Joseph also offers an interest free monthly payment plan with Tuition Management Systems. Tuition Management Systems allows students/parents to spread their educational expenses over 8-10 manageable monthly payments. Instead of a semester lump-sum payment, the plan allows students to budget all or part of their education expense into monthly installments. There is an annual $65.00 fee to participate. You may enroll in this plan by calling 1-888-713-7234 or by visiting the Tuition Management Systems Website.
Tuition Deferment Plan
Students eligible to receive employer tuition reimbursement may participate in the College of Mount St. Joseph's Tuition Deferment Plan to pay for their tuition. The Tuition Deferment Form (PDF 37KB) must be completed prior to each semester in order to be eligible for the deferment. The confirmation payment of 1/3 of total costs plus a non-refundable $15.00 administration fee must be paid before the confirmation deadline each semester. Also, a photo copy of the employer's tuition reimbursement policy stating eligibility for reimbursement must be submitted.
