2012-2013 Scholarships Offered at the Mount

The Mount offers several levels of academic scholarships and awards to incoming students in recognition of academic achievement. They do not require a separate application and are awarded on a rolling basis, typically beginning in November. Eligible students will receive an offer for one academic scholarship or award.

Traditional Student Academic Scholarships

All traditional student scholarships are renewable if the student is full time and maintaining a 3.0 college GPA. Part-time students and students with previous bachelor’s degrees are not eligible. High school GPA is based on a 4.0 scale; other grading scales will be converted to a 4.0.

Applications and transcripts must be received two weeks before school begins on your first semester at the Mount.

Transfer and Adult Student Academic Scholarships

The scholarships listed below are available for transfer students who intend to enroll at the Mount.

Scholarship Award Eligibility Information
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship $6,000 Students with an associate degree from a regionally accredited institution and a 3.25 college GPA may be eligible for this scholarship.
Transfer Scholarship $5,000 Students transferring from a regionally-accredited institution with at least a 3.0 college GPA and 24 hours or more of transfer credit are eligible for this scholarship.
Adult Scholarship $1,000 Any new or current adult student at the Mount with a minimum 2.75 GPA is eligible to apply for this scholarship. Students are required to complete a FAFSA and submit an application. Recipients of this scholarship cannot be eligible for any need-based state or federal grant dollars. Students with a previous bachelor’s degree or students receiving more than 25 percent tuition reimbursement from their employer are not eligible.

The following scholarships have requirements that differ from the above described scholarships. They vary on a case-by-case basis. Please see below for more details.

Schmidlapp Scholarship $5,000 Female students who demonstrate academic talent and plan to major in biology, chemistry, or math may be eligible for this scholarship.
Austin E. Knowlton Foundation Scholarship $4,000 First consideration is given to residents of Logan County who have been accepted to the Mount as full-time, first-year students. If there are no applicants from Logan County, Ohio, a resident of the state of Ohio who has been accepted to the Mount will be considered. Among eligible applicants, priority will be given to a student interested in pursuing a career related to architecture or design. The deadline for applying is January 31.
Sister Mary Lea Scholarship $2,000 Incoming freshmen who demonstrate academic talent are eligible to apply for this scholarship. The deadline for applying is January 31.
Moore-Eckel Scholarship $1,500 Incoming freshmen who demonstrate academic talent and plan on majoring in education, business or art may be eligible for this scholarship.
S. Mary Agnes McCann $1,000 - $3,000 Incoming freshmen who demonstrate academic talent are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Priority is given to descendants of Mount St. Vincent or Mount St. Joseph Academy students. The deadline for applying is January 31.
Sisters of Charity Scholarship $1,000 Incoming freshmen who demonstrate academic talent are eligible to apply for this scholarship. The deadline for applying is January 31.
Band Award $500 - $1,000 Incoming freshmen who plan on participating in the College band are eligible for this award.

Kentucky Student Scholarship

Since you can't bring the KEES monies with you, the College of Mount St. Joseph is offers KEES Matching Awards to eligible students from the state of Kentucky.

Scholarship Award Eligibility Information
KEES Matching Award Varies If you are a current high school senior, you can receive an amount equal to the value of your KEES award if you enroll at the Mount in the fall of 2012.  This scholarship is renewable for up to three years.

Note: The Mount also offers scholarships for students demonstrating artistic or musical talents, or planning to enroll in certain majors. Some of these awards require auditions, portfolios or separate applications.

Graduate Scholarships

Catherine Relihan Scholarship for Master of Nursing Program

The Catherine Relihan Scholarship is awarded to one student each year who enters the Master of Nursing program. The scholarship is $5,000 to be distributed over the 4 semesters of the program.

Sisters of Charity Scholarships

The Sisters of Charity Scholarships for women in graduate education and religious pastoral studies are available to female students who plan to enroll for 12 credit hours and who demonstrate financial need.

Robert Wood Johnson Scholarships for Master of Nursing Program

The Robert Wood Johnson New Careers in Nursing Scholarship will be awarded to ten students who enter the Master of Nursing program in May, 2012. The scholarships are $10,000 each.  Preference will be given to students from groups underrepresented in nursing or from an economically disadvantaged background.
