John Ballard , associate professor of management, has received an Outstanding Reviewer Award from the Management Education and Development Division of the Academy of Management. The award was presented in August at the annual meeting of the Academy in Philadelphia. This is the third consecutive year John has received this honor.


Publications/Exhibitions

Malissa Martin, professor and director of athletic training education, was recently published in the Athletic Training Education Journal, “The Millennial Student: A New Generation of Learners.”

Rick Sacksteder, counselor, Wellness Center, wrote five articles that will appear in the Northern Kentucky Encyclopedia. The articles are on the enameling in the Northern Kentucky area, local artist Caroline Williams, Northern Kentucky artist Jack Meanwell, Dixie Lee (the first women to run for federal office in Northern Kentucky), and artist Dixie Selden. Rick was also a guest lecturer for the “Art in Northern Kentucky” series last spring, where he displayed 25 pieces from his private art collection. 

Jim Green , associate professor, education department, published an article this summer titled “The ‘Progressive’ Educational Philosophy and Practices of Helen Lotspeich: A ‘Founding Mother’ from the American Heartland” in the American Educational History Journal.


Scholarly Presentations

Jim Bodle, associate professor of psychology, gave a presentation titled “Identifying Sears Houses” for the Westwood Historical Society at the Westwood First Presbyterian Church on September 12.  

R.A. Davis, professor of biology and geology, gave a presentation at the meeting of the Swiss-American Historical Society held at the Ohio Historical Center in Columbus, Ohio, September 15. He spoke about Leo Lesquereux (1806-1889), who emigrated from Switzerland in 1848 and became one of the founders of the science of paleobotany. 

Judi Heile, assistant academic dean, gave a presentation at the Fourth National Workshop for Accelerated Programs in Higher Education in Denver, Colorado, during the summer. The conference, sponsored by the Commission for Accelerated Programs (CAP), focused on Learning Outcomes Assessment in Accelerated Programs. 

Craig Lloyd, associate professor of art, reviewed a forthcoming book on color theory by Joy Luke for Prentice Hall Publishers in September. 

Tim Lynch, professor of history, was the featured speaker at the Labor Day Association celebration in Princeton, Indiana. First held in 1886 in the wake of the Haymarket Square affair, the gathering is one of the oldest Labor Day observances in the nation. (Among the previously invited speakers was Mother Jones.)
