Joseph Barone 
Gail Burns, M.S.N. 
Gail Burns is an assistant professor in the department of health sciences. Professor Burns received her BSN from the college of Mount St. Joseph and her MSN from the University of Cincinnati. Her expertise is in Mental Health and Community Nursing. Her MSN concentration is in nursing administration. She has 10 years prior nursing administration experience at an outpatient mental health center.
Erin Beckwith, MEd, ATC
Erin joined the MSJ faculty in 2007 and is an instructor and assistant athletic trainer. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Athletic Training and Health Fitness Management at Capital University.  Her graduate degree is in Health Promotion and Education from the University of Cincinnati.  Erin is a personal trainer and is credentialed strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  Erin coordinates the first aid and emergency care portion of the program and assists in the teaching of Clinical Perspectives III.

Mary Ellen Betz, Ed D.
Dr. Betz is an assistant professor in nursing at the college and has been in either nursing practice or education for 35 years.  Before coming to the Mount in 1992, she earned her BSN and MSN from the University of Cincinnati and her Ed. D. from International Graduate School, St. Louis, MO. In recent years, Professor Betz has been teaching at off-campus RN to BSN programs. Her clinical specialty is adult mental health. She enjoys reading - especially history, attending the symphony, spending time with her labradors and working in her yard. She is involved with her church and active in the Cincinnati Women's Club.


Lisa Dehner, Ph.D
Dr. Dehner is assistant professor of Physical Therapy at the Mount and oversees physical therapy admission and scheduling.  She received her BS in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts and her PhD in Neurobiology from The Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.  Her current teaching responsibilities include pathophysiology, pharmacology, neuroanatomy, neuroscience, surface anatomy and geriatric evaluation and treatment. Professor Dehner's current research lines involve the neurobiology of multisensory integration. She is also active clinically; evaluating and treating patients in the long term care setting.

Agnes DiStasi, M.S.N.
Professor DiStasi is assistant professor of Nursing at the Mount. She received her B.S.N. and M.S. N. from the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing. Her clinical and research interests include pain management, gerontological nursing and quality of life. She enjoys travel, playing tennis and involvement in her parish.

Marsha Eifert-Mangine, PT/ATC
Marsha Eifert-Mangine is an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at the College with teaching responsibilities in the area of basic evaluation skills, kinesiology and orthopedics. She received her undergraduate degrees from Thomas More College in 1986 and continued her education at the University of Cincinnati obtaining a Master's of Education Degree in community based health education. In 1987 she obtained her certification as an Athletic Trainer from the NATA. In 1989 Marsha received her PT degree from Washington University in St. Louis.  Professor Eifert-Mangine is finishing her doctoral education in curriculum and instruction at The University of Cincinnati. Her areas of research interest include effectiveness of distance education methods, and clinical research in the area of overuse orthopedic injuries. Clinically, she practices part time as a Physical Therapist at NovaCare/Northern Kentucky.

Ann Fritch, M.S.
Ann Fritch is an Assistant Professor in Physical Therapy, teaching in the areas of neurorehabilitation and pediatrics. She is a Board Certified Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy.  Professor Fritch received her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami, her Master of Health Science from the University of Indianapolis and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Health Related Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University. Ann practices clinically at Children's Hospital Medical Center.

Donna Glankler, M.S.N.
Donna Glankler is an assistant professor of nursing in health sciences and coordinator of the school nurse licensure program at the college.  She received her diploma of nursing in 1978 from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing.  Professor Glankler earned her B.S.N. from the College of Mount St. Joseph and her M.S.N. from the University of Cincinnati, College of Nursing & Health.  Donna returned to the Mount in 2000 where she received her School Nurse Licensure.

Nancy Hinzman, M.S.N.
Nancy Hinzman is an associate professor in the department of health sciences. She has taught a variety of courses in her 5 years with the Mount.  Professor Hinzman graduated from Duke University (BSN) and Indiana University (MSN). Her clinical expertise is in perinatal nursing and she has more than 15 years experience working in Labor and Delivery.

Karen M Holtgrefe, DHS, PT, OCS 
Dr. Holtgrefe is an assistant professor of physical therapy at the Mount and interim program director of physical therapy. She teaches biomechanics and kinesiology, spine, therapeutic exercise, and acute care/cardiopulmonary. Before coming to the Mount, Professor Holtgrefe received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman's University, and a Master of Health Science and Doctor of Health Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Indianapolis. She is a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy.

Susan Johnson, Ph.D
Susan Johnson is the director of the Nursing Program at the Mount. Dr. Johnson is an associate professor in the Department of Health Sciences at the college. She received her Ph.D from the University of Cincinnati. Her clinical area of expertise is maternity nursing and women's health with research interests in women's health and nursing education. Professor Johnson is published in nursing education and women's health nursing journals, and is co-editor of Diseases and Disorders, a Nursing Therapeutics Manual.

Mary C. Kishman, Ph.D.
Dr. Kishman’s undergraduate work was completed at Xavier University. She received a Master of Science in Nursing and  doctorate at the University of Cincinnati, focusing on medical surgical nursing/burns and trauma and research respectively. Currently she teaches in the undergraduate, graduate, and off-site cohort programs. Her areas of expertise include pediatric nursing, research, nursing science and theory, and pharmacology. Pediatric burns is her research area of interest.

Kevin Lawrence, D.H.S, PT, OCS
Dr. Lawrence is an assistant professor of physica therapy in the Health Sciences Department. Before coming to the Mount, he taught for 12 years at College Misericordia in Dallas, Pennsylvania. He holds a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from Marquette University, a master's degree from the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, and a doctorate from the University of Indianapolis. He teaches courses related to musculoskeletal physical therapy. Outside the classroom, Dr. Lawrence enjoys travel, especially visiting the national parks and prehistoric sites. A Yankee fan, he enjoys watching sports of all different kinds, and is a do-it-yourselfer and usually has a multitude of projects going at his house.

Renee Gaines Loftspring, PT, Ed.D. 
Dr. Loftspring is an assistant professor in the Physical Therapy program at the College. Prior to coming to the Mount, Renee earned a B.S. in comprehensive science education and computer literacy from The Ohio State University, a B.S. in physical therapy from the University of Pittsburgh, a M.Ed. from the University of Cincinnati in instructional design and technology, and a Ed.D. from the University of Cincinnati in curriculum and instruction. She enjoys supporting her three children's activities, Buckeye football, ice hockey, exercising, watching movies and reading. Renee has her adult NDT certification.

William Lonneman, M.A., M.S.N.
Professor Lonneman is an assistant professor in the Nursing Program at the Mount. He has been a nurse since 1982, working in hospice and also in neighborhood community health. He received his diploma from Christ Hospital, a B.S.N. from Xavier University and an M.S.N. in adult primary care from Indiana University. He also holds a master's degree in theology from Xavier. Professor Lonneman was a nurse practitioner in family practice and internal medicine for 10 years. He enjoys bicycling in the city for exercise and spending time with his wife and two grown daughters.

Malissa Martin, ATC/L, CSCS, Ed.D 
Dr. Martin is a full professor and director of the Athletic Training Education Program. Before coming to the college, she earned a bachelor of science degree from Indiana State University. She was awarded a master's and doctorate of education degrees from the University of South Carolina, where she also earned a post graduate certification in alcohol and drug studies. Dr. Martin plays an integral role in the publishing of athletic training scholarly materials. She serves as a chief section editor for Athletic Therapy Today, section editor for the Journal of Athletic Training, and is on the editorial board for Athletic Training Education Journal. She is also a site visitor for the Commission on the Accreditation of Athletic Training Education Programs and is a nationally known speaker and author. On the clinical level Dr. Martin has primarily been involved with NCAA Division I sports programs and has also served with the United States Olympic Committee.  Dr. Martin primarily teaches orthopedic assessment and pathopharmacology.

Susan Miniello, MS, ATC
Susan is an instructor and assistant athletic trainer for the Mount. Her primarily sports responsibilities are with men’s soccer, women’s basketball, and track and field.  Susan received her bachelor of science degree from Marietta College and her masters degree from the University of Florida.  She teaches therapeutic modalities along with Clinical Perspectives I and II.

M. Kathleen Monahan, RN, MSN, CNOR
Professor Monahan has been a registered nurse for 28 years; a career that has spanned many changes within the healthcare arena. Her career has taken her from the bedside, to leadership positions, to executive leadership positions, and back to the bedside. In addition to teaching the RN's returning to College for their BSNs, she practices clincally at a hospital in town. A graduate of The Christ Hospital School of Nursing, Professor Monahan attended Edgecliff College/Xavier University for a BSN, the University of Akron for a master’s degree in nursing administration and business and will begin doctoral coursework this fall. Research interests are leadership, organizational behavior, and educational mobility for the registered nurse.

Peter Mosher, DPT, PT, ACCE
Dr. Peter Mosher serves as the academic coordinator for clinical education in physical therapy at the Mount. His responsibilities include preparing, assigning and evaluating clinical intern students. Professor Mosher majored in exercise science and Spanish at St. Louis University before earning his master's and doctorate degrees in physical therapy at St. Louis. He has clinical experience in acute/hospital and outpatient orthopedics/sportsmedicine settings. Prior to coming to the Mount he served as an adjunct professor at SLU. Professor Mosher and his wife enjoy running, reading, travelling, and working on their home and yard.
Janet Mulcare, Ph.D.
Dr. Mulcare is a Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. She received her doctoral degree from the University of Connecticut in Exercise Physiology. She is a Fellow in the American College of Sports Medicine and has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in the field of rehabilitation research, as well as contributed chapters to several textbooks of clinical exercise physiology. Dr. Mulcare enjoys bicycling and other leisure sports in her spare time. She had coached both middle school and high school Science Olympiad teams that have ranked in the top 3 nationally for the past 5 years. Her other interests include traveling with her husband and two children. 
Angela Perusek, EdD, ATC
Dr. Perusek is an assistant professor and clinical coordinator of the Athletic Training Education Program.  She received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Cincinnati, her master of arts from Miami University and her doctoral degree from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN.  Before joining the Mount, she served as the head athletics trainer in both NCAA Division II and III.  Dr. Perusek’s research area focuses on student learning and clinical instruction.  Dr. Perusek teaches taping lab, injury/illness assessment, organization and administration, and Clinical Perspectives I and II.

Lisa Osterbrock, MA, ATC
Lisa was named the head athletics trainer at the Mount in 2006.  She serves as an instructor for the program and teaches therapeutic exercise along with taping and supportive equipment. Lisa received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Biochemistry and her Masters of Arts in Physical Education/Athletic Training.  Prior to coming to the Mount, Lisa was an assistant athletic trainer at the University of South Florida.  She has also served as an athletic trainer for the Tampa Bay Storm arena football team, Southwest Michigan Jaguars national women’s football team, and the Tampa Bay Mutiny major soccer team.

Mary Romanello Ph.D.
Dr. Romanello is an assistant professor of physical therapy. She teaches courses in therapeutic modalities, therapeutic exercise, professional socialization and cultural issues. Dr. Romanello's educational preparation includes a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Indiana Central University and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Miami University of Ohio. Her areas of interest include teaching and learning, curriculum development and wellness activities. She enjoys bicycling and walking and completing odds and ends jobs around her house.

Kelly Simmons, M.S.N.
Kelly Simmons is an instructor in the Nursing Program. She graduated with a B.S.N. from the University of Kentucky in 1991 and received a Master of Science in Nursing from Northern Kentucky University in 2006. She has been at the Mount since August 2006. Her interests include dance, scrapbooking and reading.
Patricia Sunderhaus, M.S.N.
Professor Sunderhaus is assistant professor of nursing at the Mount. She received an ASN from Cincinnati State Bethesda School of Nursing, a B.S.N. from the Mount and a Master of Science in Nursing from Ball State University where her thesis topic was critical thinking among nursing students in the clinical and classroom setting. She teaches in both the M.N. and B.S.N. programs and enjoys being back at the Mount.

Darla Vale, Ph.D.
Dr. Vale is Chairperson and associate professor of the Department of Health Sciences. She is certified in critical care nursing and continues to practice clinically on a part-time basis. Professor Vale received her BSN from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa; MSN from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas and DNSc from Rush University in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Vale is the author of several publications on cardiovascular health, the nursing shortage and program assessment.

Tina Volz, Ph.D.
Professor Volz graduated from Bowling Green State University with a BSN degree. Her masters and doctoral work was done at the University of Cincinnati. She is currently an assistant professor of Nursing here at the Mount, teaching pharmacology and medical-surgical nursing.  She also also chairs the Nursing Research Council at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.  Dr. Volz enjoys collecting art glass and American paintings, has an appreciation for fine wine - she is currently building a wine cellar in her home, and enjoys reading mystery novels in her spare time.
