Nancy Cavanaugh, M.Ed.
Ms. Cavanaugh is an instructor of education in the Inclusive Early Childhood program at the Mount. She earned her master's degree in early childhood education at the University of Cincinnati and earned advanced hours at Xavier University, Miami University, and Johns Hopkins University. Ms. Cavanaugh’s experience includes thirty years with Cincinnati Public Schools as a classroom teacher, lead teacher, teacher evaluator and program facilitator. She also worked as a staff development trainer at Mayerson Academy. Ms. Cavanaugh worked five years as a national adjunct trainer for the Success For All reading program traveling all around the country training teachers and is currently a tutor in Project EXCEL at the Mount.
Tsila B. Evers, Ph.D.
Dr. Evers is assistant professor of education at the College of Mount St. Joseph. Dr. Evers earned her doctorate in educational psychology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor where she later became a visiting senior research associate with the Consortium for Cross Cultural Research in Education. In that capacity Dr. Evers has specialized in cross-cultural research that has brought her to educational sites across the world. Her research interests include teachers' and principals' job satisfaction, stress and burnout, and reaction to change.  Her teaching expertise includes topics like learning theories, classroom management, human growth and development; psychology of the learner, and measurement and evaluation.
James Green, Ph.D.
Dr. Green is an assistant professor of education at the College of Mount St. Joseph. Dr. Green earned his doctorate at The Ohio State University. As a historian, his research interests include the history of education in the United States with a specific focus on the role of private schools.
Kathleen Hulgin, Ph.D. 
Dr. Hulgin is an assistant professor of education in the Mount's Education Department. She earned a doctorate in Special Education with a concentration in Disability Policy Studies from Syracuse University. Dr. Hulgin's research examines inclusive education and services as they are influenced by organizational context and policy. Her teaching experience includes differentiated instruction, teaching in an inclusive setting, collaboration among professionals and families, as well as a number of other topics.
Angela Miller, Ed. D. 
Dr. Miller is an assistant professor of literacy education. She is a reading specialist with almost twenty years of elementary classroom experience. Having earned two degrees from Xavier University and her doctorate at the University of Cincinnati, her research interests include reader response and curriculum theory, specifically the integration of fine arts activities in literacy classrooms. Dr. Miller writes and arranges music for the Xavier University Jazz Ensemble, and helped produce three musical CDs for the XUJE. In her free time, Dr. Miller enjoys spending time with her family, traveling with her children, reading, and listening to a wide variety of musical genres.
Mifrando Obach, Ph.D.
Mifrando Obach is associate professor and chair of the Department of Education. A school psychologist by training, he received his Ph.D. from Tulane University and completed his internship at the Human Development Center of Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. He accepted faculty appointments at University of Wisconsin-Stout and Rhode Island College after a brief stint as a school psychologist in St. Bernard Parish outside of New Orleans.  Prior to his doctoral study, Mif was a Christian Brother for 18 years working in Louisiana and the Philippines as a teacher, principal, school supervisor, and teacher training director.  He is a licensed psychologist with interests in child and adolescent development, psychology in schools and education, and learning abilities/disabilities.  He enjoys reading, playing tennis, and visiting new places with his wife and two daughters.
Jay Parks, M.Ed.,
Mr. Parks is an instructor and Coordinator for the Inclusive Early Childhood and Adolescent to Young Adult TEAM programs. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Science in Education at the University of Cincinnati. Advanced hours for certification have been earned at the University of Cincinnati, Ashland College, and Miami University. He is now retired from Cincinnati Public Schools where he worked as teacher, teacher coordinator, and administrator. Mr. Parks is the past president of the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators having served on their board of directors for seven years. Deborah Ranz-Smith, Ed.D.
Deborah J. Ranz-Smith, Ed.D., is an assistant professor in Inclusive Early Childhood. She brings to the Mount more than 30 years of experience in education, teaching at both the elementary and college levels. She also has served in an advisory capacity with the Ohio Department of Education in curriculum development and has presented topics related to literacy and the social studies at regional and national conferences. Her degree programs are from Kent State University in early childhood, Xavier University in reading, and the University of Cincinnati in curriculum and instruction. 
Clarissa Rosas, Ph.D.
Dr. Rosas is the director of the Pilot Charter College of Education and the TEAM - Multicultural Special Education program. As an associate professor, Dr. Rosas has more than 25 years of experience in education which includes serving as a general and special education teacher, school site administrator, district special education administration, professor, department chair in higher education, and curriculum developer and director TEAM programs. Dr. Rosas earned a B.A. degree in liberal arts, and a M.Ed. in special education from the University of San Diego; an Ed.S. degree in administration, and a Ph.D. in multicultural/bilingual special education from the University of New Mexico.
Paul Sallada, M.Ed. 
Mr. Sallada is director of clinical experiences and instructor in the Education Department at the Mount and teaches the student teaching seminar each semester. He holds a Master of Education degree in Administration and a B.S. in Elementary Education at the University of Cincinnati. Advanced hours have been earned at Xavier University and Ashland College. He has extensive administrative experience as director of curriculum, instruction, and special education in multiple school districts. He has also served as a building principal for multiple schools, as a special education director, program designer/administrator, public relations coordinator, tax/bond levy planner, state and federal program administrator, and assistant principal.
Kim Shibinski, Ph.D.
Dr. Shibinski is assistant professor of education at the College of Mount St. Joseph. Dr. Shibinski earned her doctorate in curriculum and instruction at the University of South Carolina. Prior to coming to the Mount, she taught at Middle Tennessee State University in the Educational Leadership Department. Her expertise is in the area of effective teaching strategies and educational leadership. Dr. Shibinski’s teaching expertise includes topics like learning theories, classroom management, and effective coaching strategies.
Richard Sparks, Ed.D.
Dr. Sparks is a professor of education at the College of Mount St. Joseph. Dr. Sparks earned his doctorate at the University of Cincinnati. His research interests include foreign language learning, reading and language disabilities, and hyperlexia. Dr. Sparks has published extensively in both foreign language and learning disability journals. He also serves as a consultant and conducts numerous seminars.
Mary West, Ph.D.
Dr. West is assistant professor of education at the College of Mount St. Joseph. Dr. West earned her doctorate at The Ohio State University. Her research interests include issues in science education, educational technology, and teacher thinking. She also is an Ohio Board of Regents Math & Science Teaching Fellow.
