Biography: Dr. Bodle is an associate professor of communication studies in the Department of Communication Studies. He teaches a variety of media and communication studies courses including New Media and Society, Visual Communication, Mass Media and Contemporary Culture, History of the Motion Picture, American Film Authors, French Cinema, and Spoken Word.
Professor Bodle received his Ph.D. in Critical Studies from the University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television (now called the School of Cinematic Arts). His research focuses on the social and political implications of new media (convergence culture, advertising, social media, information rights, governance, intellectual property rights, Net neutrality, surveillance and privacy, education and instruction).
At the community level, Dr. Bodle works with nonprofit and independent media arts organizations that help give voice to underrepresented groups, support independent news and information, and use media to promote social and economic justice. He currently oversees the Service Learning project, "Community Video for Nonprofits," at the Mount.
