Dr. Wagner is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Studies. She teaches a variety of communication courses including Spoken Word and Mass Media and Contemporary Culture. Dr. Wagner earned her Ph.D. in Mass Communication from Ohio Univeristy. Her dissertation, "Identity: Girls Everyday, On and Offline," focused on the culture of adolescent girlhood and identity performance as they coexist with social networking and mediated contexts. Dr. Wagner received her M.A. in Mass Communication with an emphasis on film studies from the University of Denver, and she earned her B.A. in French from Wittenberg University.

Professor Wagner enjoys studying popular culture, media, social media, and gender and youth cultures from a critical/cultural perspective. Her preferred methodologies include interviewing, participant observation, autoethnography, and textual analysis. She also enjoys all things popular culture related (TV, film, music, social media, etc.).

When not teaching, Dr. Wagner likes going to concerts, catching up on reality TV, and reading young adult literature. She is also a novice quilter, puppy enthusiast and culinary adventurist.
