Jeanne Buccigross, Ph.D. 
Dr. Buccigross is professor chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Physical Sciences. A graduate of Framington State College in Framington, Mass., she received a master of arts, a master of science and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Clark University in Worcester, Mass. She joined the Mount faculty in 1986. Her current research interests are the intersection of art and chemistry, particularly the science of natural dyes, rock art and paints and pigments.

Diana J. Davis, Ph.D. -- Department Chair 
Dr. Davis is the current chair of the Department of Chemistry and Physical Sciences at the Mount. She came to the college in 1997 after earning her Ph.D. in biochemistry from Colorado State University in 1995. She teaches a majors course on the structure and function of nucleic acids (RNA and DNA) and has an active research project on the biochemistry of pathogenic fungi.

Mark Fischer, Ph.D. 
Dr. Fischer is associate professor of physics in the chemistry and physical sciences department. Originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, Professor Fischer received his B.A. from Kalamazoo College in physics and math as a double major. In 1991, he earned his M.S. from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan and in 1998 his Ph.D. from The University of Michigan, Department of Physics. His dissertation is entitled, "Characterization of Local Motions in Proteins Detected by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Relaxation Studies."

Meg Riestenberg, Ph.D. 
Meg (Mary M.) Riestenberg is an associate professor of geology and biology at the Mount. She earned both a Ph.D. in Geology and a M.S. degree in Biology from the University of Cincinnati. Since she has backgrounds in two sciences, she has been teaching courses since 1985 out of the Chemistry and Physical Sciences Departments, as well as the Biology Department. Her interests are interdisciplinary, and so she teaches courses such as geology of Cincinnati, introductory biology and biodiversity, ecology and geobotany. She has a special interest in relating plants with their physical/biological environment, and spends time in Adams County, Ohio, investigating geobotany there.
