R. A. Davis, Ph.D.
Dr. Davis is a professor in the Department of Biology at the College.  He earned his B.A. at Cornell College and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Iowa.  His major was paleontology, with minors in zoology, stratigraphy, and geomorphology.  In addition to teaching biology, Professor Davis teaches geology and IDS courses.

Gene Kritsky, Ph.D.
Dr. Kritsky is Professor of Biology.  Before coming to the College in 1983, he received his BA in Biology from Indiana University in 1974, and his MS and PhD in Entomology from the University of Illinois in 1976 and 1977 respectively.  Professor Kritsky also serves as Editor of American Entomologist , and has published five books and more than 100 papers on insect evolution, beekeeping history, egyptology, and Charles Darwin.

Annette Muckerheide, S.C., Ph.D.
Dr. Muckerheide is a professor of biology at the Mount. Before coming to the college in 1978, she earned her bachelor's degree from the College of Mount St. Joseph, an M.S. in Biology from Drake University and a Ph.D. in Microbiology/Immunology from the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Muckerheide teaches biology, microbiology, immunology, genetics and cell biology and serves as chair of the department. Professor Muckerheide’s research interests lie in the areas of immunology and in the relationship between science and religion. She enjoys the outdoors and nature in many forms: hiking, gardening, bicycling, birding. Drawing, quilting, needlework and other art forms are also interests and diversions. She is a flutist with the Sisters of Charity Ministry Group.

Elizabeth Murray, Ph.D
Dr. Murray is a graduate of the College of Mount St. Joseph who went on to obtain her master's and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Cincinnati, with skeletal biology and forensic anthropology as her focus. She is one of only approximately 60 board-certified forensic anthropologists in North America and has assisted in both forensic and historic skeletal investigations on the local, regional, national, and international levels. Dr. Murray teaches anatomy and physiology, gross anatomy, general biology and forensic science.  Hobbies and interests include: travel, home repair and remodeling/redecorating, photography, sewing, reading, and of course, puzzles! 

Tracy M. Reed, Ph.D. 
Dr.  Reed is an Associate Professor of biology at the College of Mount St. Joseph. Professor Reed graduated from the University of Cincinnati Medical School in 1992 with a Master's in Physiology and Biophysics. In 2000, she earned her doctorate from the University of Cincinnati/Children's Hospital Department of Developmental Biology.

Jill Russell, Ph.D.
Dr. Russell is an assistant professor of biology at the Mount. Professor Russell received an undergraduate degree from the Mount, and both her master's and doctorate degrees in cardiac physiology and neuroendocrinology from Miami University (Ohio). She teaches a variety of anatomy and physiology classes including cardiopulmonary physiology, endocrinology, neuropharmacology of  drugs of abuse, and various workshops on environmental science. Professor Russell is an avid birder and bird-bander, and co-founder and executive director of the Avian Research and Education Institute, a non-profit bird conservation, education and advocacy organization. She is creating a bird banding program at the Mount that will engage students and community members. Being both a physiologist and an environmentalist, Dr. Russell is a diverse, dynamic and multi-faceted teacher who loves to share her knowledge and experiences with others.
