Biography: Dr. Kane is an assistant professor of sociology in the Department of Sociology and Criminology. She earned a Ph.D. in Sociology and a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies from the University of Maryland.
Dr. Kane's areas of expertise lie in social inequalities, the sociology of religion and the sociology of globalization. Her current research examines the intersection of contemporary forms of race, class and gender inequality in religious settings.
Outside academic life, professor Kane enjoys arts and crafts, exploring the natural world and spending time with her family.
