Jerry Bellas, M.F.A. -- Department Chair 
Professor Bellas received his M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, MI, and his B.S. in Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He teaches drawing, figure drawing and 3-D design. He is currently the department chair for Art & Design and director of the Mount's art gallery, Studio San Guiseppe. Professor Bellas served as a summer exchange professor at Huron University (London) in 1997 and 2004, and is also a recipient of a National Endowment Fellowship in furniture making. His drawings and wood objects are frequently shown in regional exhibitions. Professor Bellas' interests and hobbies are in the visual arts and crafts, especially drawing, woodworking and bookbinding.

Beth Belknap-Brann, M.Des. 
Professor Brann earned a BFA in Oil Painting from Miami University, and a Master of Design from the University of Cincinnati. Her professional work includes more than six years of television graphic design in Chicago and Cincinnati. She is associate professor of Graphic Design at the Mount and has been directing the Mount’s Graphic Design program since 1989. A longtime member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts and Cincinnati Book Arts Society, Professor Brann explores the connection between digital design and handcrafting of various book forms.

Sharon Kesterson Bollen, Ed.D. 
Dr. Bollen is a professor of art and heads the Mount’s Art Education program and fabric surface design concentration. She has been teaching art since 1968 and has been on the Mount art faculty since 1977. She has a lengthy exhibition record of her dyed/printed/painted fabric at the local, state and national levels. Dr. Bollen’s research interest is in the history of women artists. Dr. Bollen has received many awards, including the Mount’s Distinguished Teaching Award, the Alumni Faculty Appreciation Award, the Outstanding Ohio Art Educator, the NAEA’s Outstanding Higher Education Art Educator: Western Region, the 2004 Ohio Designer Craftsmen’s Ruhlin Memorial Award for Excellence in Fiber, and the 2005 Micah Fund Award.

Kimberly Burke, M.Ed. 
Professor Burke is an assistant professor and program chair of Interior Design at the Mount. She received a B.S. in Interior Design from the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) at the University of Cincinnati and also has a Master of Art Education from UC. She has 17 years of experience in the field of interior design working in various capacities including commercial, retail, corporate design, and space planning and continues to consult on design projects and has been working on furniture design. She has successfully completed the Praxis evaluations and is licensed to teach in the State of Ohio. Professor Burke is interested in the use of computers in education and exploring opportunities for non-traditional educational opportunities. She and her husband enjoy reading, traveling, running, hiking and spending time with their four children. |

John A. Griffith, M.Ed. 
Professor Griffith has earned a Master Degree in Education from AIU and a Bachelor of Science in Photographic Imaging from Rochester Institute of Technology. He began teaching photography at the College of Mt. St. Joseph in 1981 and is presently and assistant professor of art. He has also owned a successful photography studio since returning to Cincinnati from New York in 1980. His work has appeared in magazines, advertisements, and corporate annual reports for more than 25 years. Non-photographic interests include beekeeping, digital system design, low impact farming methods and building energy efficient geodesic dome structures.

Pamela C. Korte, M.A. 
Professor Korte has been an instructor in the Department of Art & Design since 1984. She has owned and operated pottery studios since 1980, making and selling decorative and functional porcelain. Her work has been featured in Ceramics Monthly Magazine as well as several books including Contemporary Porcelain and Functional Ceramics. Professor Korte is a graduate of the College of Mount St. Joseph and the University of Louisville and holds an M.A. in Ceramics. |

Michael Kroeger, M.F.A. 
Professor Kroeger is a professional designer and educator living in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is an assistant professor for the Mount teaching graphic & Web design and a new course called "Advanced Web & Interactive Design" in the iDesign program. He was president of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Phoenix Chapter from October 1993 until April 1996. The University of Cincinnati conferred on him a Bachelor of Science in Design (BSD) degree. Professor Kroeger traveled to Brissago, Switzerland to study with Armin Hofmann, Paul Rand, Wolfgang Weingart, Philip Burton, and Herbert Mätter. He received a M.F.A. degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island.

Craig Lloyd, M.F.A. 
Professor Lloyd is an associate professor teaching courses in drawing, design, printmaking, painting, art history and computer graphics at the Mount. He earned his M.F.A. in painting from the University of Cincinnati and a B.F.A. in painting from Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio. His work has been exhibited in over 100 solo and juried exhibitions both regionally and nationally. He is a recipient of a City of Cincinnati Individual Artists Grant and has taught drawing at Huron University in London as a summer exchange professor. He has had essays published in two library reference texts.

Daniel E. Mader, M.A. 
Professor Mader is a professor of art, and advisor to the College's London Program. A full-time faculty member at the college for more than 30 years, he earned his Master of Arts in Art History from the University of Cincinnati. He has published articles in Grove's Dictionary of Art, and has exhibited in more than 40 juried and invitational exhibits. Professor Mader is a faculty consultant to ETS (Educational Testing Service) and a field reader for the U.S. Department of Education. His current research interest is nautical archaeology in the Aegean Sea.

Loyola Walter, MFA 
Professor Walter is associate professor of fine art and currently head of the Fine Arts Program at the Mount. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, she earned her B.A. in Art from Bellarmine College in Louisville, studied for five years in the University of Louisville’s Masters of Art program while teaching high school art, and received her M.F.A. in painting from the University of Cincinnati. During her 19 years at the College of Mount St. Joseph she has taught drawing, painting and honors courses. She helped design and taught the college’s first interdisciplinary course and continues to design and teach interdisciplinary courses, including most recently the travel course The Story of Berlin with Ulli Brinksmeier (music). Loyola co-designs and team teaches the Freshman Orientation and Senior Capstone Seminars. In addition to summer work on the archeological excavation of the Roman site at Torre de Palma, Portugal, she has taught a summer course at Huron University in London. She was awarded the College’s Clifford Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2005. She exhibits drawings and paintings in regional exhibitions. Her commissions include building-mounted sculptures for the Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church and a life size sculpture of St. Francis of Assisi for the St. Anthony Messenger Press headquarters in Cincinnati.
