10/4/08 Lions win one, lose one to end regular season play
The Mount concluded 2008 regular season action today at Manchester College, falling to the Spartans, 8-1, but then defeating Bluffton University, 8-1. The Lions are now 8-5 overall, 3-5 in the HCAC and will compete in the Oct. 11-12 HCAC Individual Tournament.
Brittany Teagle (Albany, IN/Delta) claimed the team's lone win against Manchester, posting a 7-6, 6-0 fourth singles win. The Mount won five of six singles matches and all three doubles matches against the Beavers in the day's second match. Five different Lions' players captured two wins each against Bluffton.
10/1/08 Mount posts 9-0 home win over Thomas More College
The Lions defeated Thomas More College by a 9-0 score today, marking the second straight such win over the Saints this season. The Mount is now 7-4 on the season and will play two HCAC matches on Oct. 4 when they travel to Manchester College to take on the Spartans and Bluffton University. Those matches will conclude the team's regular season of play.
The team's lone senior Sarah Archer (Moscow, OH/Felicity-Franklin) was honored before the the match on Senior Day. Archer ran her record to 14-3 on the season, including 6-0 in singles, as she posted two wins against the Saints. Bridget Kent (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) also had two wins, as she improved to 13-6 this season while Jordan Cullen (Cincinnati, OH/Summit Country Day) won at fourth singles to improve her record to 10-2.
9/30/08 Lions run season record to 6-4 with a 9-0 home win over Sinclair Community College
The Mount improved to 6-4 on the season by defeating Sinclair Community College at home, 9-0. The win was the second of the season for the Lions over Sinclair.
Brittany Teagle (Albany, IN/Delta) improved to 15-6 on the season with wins at both singles and doubles while teammate
Judy Frey (Cedar Grove, IN/Franklin County) had two wins and upped her season record to 13-6.
The Mount takes on Thomas More College on Oct. 1 at home.
9/24/08 Mount posts 7-2 win at Earlham College
The Mount won four of six singles matches and all three doubles matches today at Earlham as they defeated the Quakers, 7-2. The Lions (5-4) return to action on Sept. 30 against Sinclair Community College.
Laura Robison (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) helped lead the way against Earlham, collecting single and doubles wins. Judy Frey (Cedar Grove, IN/Franklin County), Bridget Kent (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) and Sarah Archer (Moscow, OH/Felicity-Franklin) all posted two wins each.
9/20/08 Lions fall twice in HCAC action, losing by identical 6-3 scores to Rose-Hulman and Transylvania
The Mount's season record fell to 4-4 overall, 2-4 in the HCAC today with two losses at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Lions lost 6-3 to Rose-Hulman and 6-3 to Transylvania University. Jordan Cullen (Cincinnati, OH/Summit Country Day) went 2-0 in singles action today while the Lions' doubles team of Laura Robison (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) and Brittany Teagle (Albany, IN/Delta) was also 2-0.
The Lions resume action on Sept. Sept. 24 at Earlham College.
9/14/08 Mount wins one, loses one in HCAC home action
The Mount hosted HCAC-foes Hanover College and Anderson University today, coming away with a 5-4 loss to Hanover and a 9-0 victory over Anderson. The Lions (4-2, 2-2 HCAC) travel to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Sept. 20 for conference matches against the Engineers and Transylvania University.
Hanover knocked off the Mount in four of six singles matches while the Lions were victorius in two of the three doubles matches against the Panthers. Each of the three doubles matches were decided by two sets.
Five different Lions won two mathes each against the Ravens in the second match of the day.
Brittany Teagle (Albany, IN/Delta) had two, 6-0 match wins at third singles and teamed with
Laura Robison (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) to win 8-2 at second doubles.
9/10/08 Lions post second straight 9-0 victory wih a home win over Thomas More College
The Lions improved their record to 3-1 on the season with a 9-0 win today against Thomas More College.
Whitney Thomas (New Albany, IN/Our Lady of Providence) led the way at first singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win. She also teamed with
Judy Frey (Cedar Grove, IN/Franklin County) to win 8-0 at first doubles. Three other Mount players also posted both singles and doubles wins against the Saints, who dropped to 0-3 on the season.
The Mount is back on the courts on Sept. 13 when they host HCAC-foes Hanover College and Anderson University.
9/9/08 Mount goes to 2-1 on the season with a 9-0 win at Sinclair Community College
Four different Lions' players each won two matches today as the Mount rolled to a 9-0 blanking over Sinclair Commnity College. Those posted singles and doubles wins were

Judy Frey (Cedar Grove, IN/Franklin County),
Brittany Teagle (Albany, IN/Delta) and
Bridget Kent (Cincinnati, OH/Seton).
The Mount returns to action on Sept. 10 when they host cross-river rival Thomas More College at 4 p.m.
9/6/08 Lions open the season with one win, one loss in HCAC action
Sarah Archer (Moscow, OH/Felicity-Franklin) and teammate Judy Frey (Cedar Grove, IN/Franklin County) each posted two wins against the Yellow Jackets as the Mount won their season-opener today with a 7-2 victory against Defiance College. Later in the day the Lions dropped a 7-2 match to Franklin College, to go 1-1 against their HCAC-rivals on the day.
Frey won at second singles and first doubles in straight sets while Archer posted wins at sixth singles (6-0, 6-0) and third doubles. Whitney Thomas (New Albany, IN/Our Lady Of Providence) gained a three-set win at first singles against Franklin while Brittany Teagle (Albany, IN/Delta) collected a three-set win at fourth singles. Thomas and Frey also played well at first singles versus the Grizzlies, losing 8-6.
The Mount resumes action on Sept. 9 at Sinclair Community College.
5/26/08 Summit Country Day School's Jordan Cullen to attend the Mount and play tennis for the Lions
The College of Mount St. Joseph officially announces that Summit Country Day School senior Jordan Cullen has committed to attend the College of Mount St. Joseph and play tennis in the fall of 2008 for the Lions.
Cullen was a four-year varsity letter-winner in high school and a senior co-captain. She advanced to the Quarterfinals of the Division II Ohio State Team Championship, was a Second Team All-Conference selection, an Honorable Mention Greater Cincinnati Tennis Coaches Association honoree and was named Honorable Mention All-City by the Cincinnati Enquirer her senior season. In addition, Cullen twice was named Honorable Mention All-Conference and was a Second Team All-MVC selection her junior season. She helped lead her team to a second place finish in the state tournament her junior season and a first place conference title.
Cullen was ranked in the Midwest Section, Ohio Valley District and Greater Cincinnati Tennis Association in 2003 and 2004 and was 18th in the Greater Cincinnati Tennis Association and 72nd in the Ohio Valley District in 2005. Last summer, she received one-on-one coaching from Xavier University Assistant Head Coach Kate Weightman Rippe, attended the Smith-Stearns Tennis Academy in Hilton Head, North Carolina and had personal training (strength development) workouts.
While in high school, Cullen was in the Bowling Club, Knitting Club, Cooking Club, Band and other extra-curricular groups. She was given a Courageous Student Award by the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Jordan played for Joy Albi in high school. She is the daughter of Paula Dubeck and Francis Cullen. Cullen is planning to major in Art Education at the Mount.
