10/4/08     Lions win one, lose one to end regular season play

The Mount concluded 2008 regular season action today at Manchester College, falling to the Spartans, 8-1, but then defeating Bluffton University, 8-1. The Lions are now 8-5 overall, 3-5 in the HCAC and will compete in the Oct. 11-12 HCAC Individual Tournament.

Brittany Teagle (Albany, IN/Delta) claimed the team's lone win against Manchester, posting a 7-6, 6-0 fourth singles win. The Mount won five of six singles matches and all three doubles matches against the Beavers in the day's second match. Five different Lions' players captured two wins each against Bluffton.

10/1/08     Mount posts 9-0 home win over Thomas More College

The Lions defeated Thomas More College by a 9-0 score today, marking the second straight such win over the Saints this season. The Mount is now 7-4 on the season and will play two HCAC matches on Oct. 4 when they travel to Manchester College to take on the Spartans and Bluffton University. Those matches will conclude the team's regular season of play.

The team's lone senior Saran Archer (Moscow, OH/Felicity-Franklin) was honored before the the match on Senior Day. Archer ran her record to 14-3 on the season, including 6-0 in singles, as she posted two wins against the Saints. Bridget Kent (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) also had two wins, as she improved to 13-6 this season while Jordan Cullen (Cincinnati, OH/Summit Country Day) won at fourth singles to improve her record to 10-2.
