4/23/08 Lions close 2008 season with a 9-0 loss at Transylvania University
The Mount finished the season with a 9-0 setback to HCAC-foe Transylvania University. The Lions complete the season with a 4-10 overall mark, 0-8 in the conference, and did not qualify to the eight-team HCAC Tournament.
Tim Moody (Sylvania, OH/Toledo Central Catholic) played well at fourth singles for the Mount, losing to his opponent by 6-1, 6-2 scores. The Lions forfeited the fifth and sixth singles matches, and the third doubles match, to the Pioneers.
4/21/08 Mount registers a 6-3 win over Miami University Middletown
The Mount upped its season record to 4-9 today with a 6-3 win at Miami University Middletown. Travis Huffman (Hebron, KY/Conner) recorded wins at both singles and doubles. The Mount won four of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches during the day.
The Lions return to action on April 23 with their final regular season and HCAC match at Transylvania University. Transy is 12-5 overall, and leading the conference with a 7-0 mark.
4/19/08 Lions suffer two HCAC losses, both by 5-0 scores
The Mount dropped two conference matches today by identical 5-0 scores, losing to Bluffton University and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Lions are now 3-9 overall, 0-7 in the HCAC. They will play at Miami University Middletown on April 21.
4/16/08 Mount wins two matches at home against Central State University
The Lions and Central State University played two matches today on the Mount’s home courts, with the home team claiming wins on a tie-breaker in each. The Mount and Central State tied each match with three wins each, but the Lions were awarded victories due to the pro-set tiebreaker, by plus 1 and plus 4 margins. The Mount is now 3-7 overall for the season. No doubles matches were played during the day’s matches.
Travis Huffman (Hebron, KY/Conner) claimed wins in both matches for the Lions. The Mount is back in action on April 19 with two matches at Bluffton University versus the Beavers and Rose-Hulman.
4/14/08 Lions fall to Thomas More College, 6-3
The Mount fell to 1-7 on the season today as they dropped a 6-3 decision at home to Thomas More College. Price Combs Lexington, KY/The Gow School), Travis Huffman (Hebron, KY/Conner) and Tim Moody (Sylvania, OH/Toledo Central Catholic) claimed singles wins for the Lions. The team is back in action on April 16 when they host Central State University for two, pro-set matches, starting at 4 p.m.
4/7/08 Mount claims first win of 2008 season
The Lions recorded their first win of the season today with a 7-2 home victory over Miami University-Middletown. The Mount is now 1-6 on the season and will play next at Central State University on April 10.
CJ Knapp (Cincinnati, OH/Lakota West), Price Combs (Lexington, KY/The Gow School) and Travis Huffman (Hebron, KY/Comer) claimed singles wins. The Mount also gained three of their seven points by virtue of forfeit wins over Miami University-Middletown.
4/6/08 Lions have tough weekend of HCAC matches
The Mount recorded a 0-4 record this weekend against conference foes, losing 9-0 to both Anderson and Manchester, 5-0 to Defiance and 6-0 to Franklin. The Lions are now 0-6 on the season, 0-5 in the HCAC and will host non-conference Miami University-Middletown on April 7.
The first doubles team of CJ Knapp (Cincinnati, OH/Lakota West) and Price Combs (Lexington, KY/The Gow School) grabbed three games at first doubles against their Anderson opponent but fell, 8-3. Travis Huffman (Hebron, KY/Conner) played well at fifth singles vs. Defiance, losing 6-1, 6-2.
4/2/08 Lions drop match by a 5-0 tally at Thomas More College
Host Thomas More College blanked the Mount 5-0 today in men's tennis action. The Mount's second doubles team of Price Combs and Robby Lykes played well, dropping a closely-contested 9-8 pro set score. The team (0-2) returns to action on April 5 with an HCAC tri-match at Anderson University against the Ravens and against Manchester College.
3/13/08 Mount falls by a 5-0 score to Hanover College in season opener
The Lions opened 2008 season play today at HCAC-rival Hanover College, losing 5-0 to the Panthers. Only five matches were played, as the sixth singles was ended during the second set due to an injury and no doubles matches took place.
The Mount is back in action on March 15 when they host an HCAC tri-match against Franklin College and Defiance College beginning at 9 a.m.
1/11/08 Lions set to open the 2008 tennis season
The Mount will begin the 2008 tennis season on March 13 with a match at HCAC-foe Hanover College. They'll host an HCAC tri-match on March 15 when they take on Franklin College and Defiance College.
