4/20/08     Chris Lamb finishes tied for third place at the Rose-Hulman Invitational

(Fairborn, OH/Fairborn) shot a two-round score of 155 to finish tied for third place at the Rose-Hulman Invitational. The Mount came in fifth in the team standings, out of seven schools. Anderson won the team event.

Mike Whalen (Norwood, OH/Norwood) finished tied for 11th place. Lamb's 18-hole first round score of 73 set a new Mount record as did his final 36-hole score of 155. The Mount also set team records in lowest 18-hole score (316) and 36-hole score (644).

4/16/08     Lions lose by a 5-2 score in match play to Wilmington College

Host Wilmington College defeated the Mount today in match play, 5-2. Chris Lamb (Fairborn, OH/Fairborn) recorded a 5 and 4 win while teammate Michael Whalen (Norwood, OH/Norwood) defeated his opponent by a 1-up score.

The Mount is back in action on April 19-20 at the Rose-Hulman Invitational.

4/14/08     Hamilton Badin High School's Dean Kruschinski and Providence Catholic (Lockport, IL) High School’s Will Schau to attend the Mount

The College of Mount St. Joseph officially announces that Hamilton Badin High School’s Dean Kruschinski and Providence Catholic (Lockport, IL) High School’s Will Schau have committed to attend the College of Mount St. Joseph and play golf.

Kruschinski played the number one position in high school, and averaged 78 over 18 holes. He claimed numerous golf and academic honors while in high school including, district medalist runner-up, a 17th place finish at the state Division II tournament, team Most Valuable Player and All-Academic honors, as well as being on his school’s Honor Roll for three years.

He is the son of Jane and Glenn Kruschinski and is planning on majoring in Business.

Schau was also the number one golfer on his high school’s team, averaging a 75 over 18 holes. In addition, he was a team captain, won the Illinois Junior Golf Association Tournament and a high school tournament.

He is the son of Sheila and Randy Schau.

4/12/08     Lions finish seventh at the Manchester College Invitational

The Mount recorded a seventh place finish today - out of nine schools - at the 18-hole Manchester College Invitational. Kyle Vollmer (Harrison, OH/LaSalle) led the Mount with an 82, good for a tenth place individual tie.

The Lions return to action on April 16 when they play Wilmington College in a head-to-head match-up at 1 p.m.

4/6/08     Mount records fourth place finish as host of the College of Mount St. Joseph Spring Invitational

The College of Mount St. Joseph men's golf team came in fourth today - out of six schools - at their spring invitational. The Lions, who were second after yesterday's first round, had a two-day, 36-hole total of 692. Franklin College won the event with a 654 while Anderson University was the runner-up with a 670. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology came in third with a 691 followed by the Mount, Defiance College (699) and Wilmington College (704).

Nick Barlow (Milford, OH/Milford) tied for third individually with a 161, shooting 80-81, while teammate Chris Lamb (Fairborn, OH/Fairborn) tied for 11th with a 171.

The Mount returns to the links on April 12 at the Manchester College Invitational.

4/3/08     Mount records fifth place finish at the Hanover College Spring Invitational

The Mount finished fifth today at the Hanover College Spring Invitational, as conference foes Franklin College and Anderson University recorded a 1-2 finish. The Lions were paced by Nick Barlow (Milford, OH/Milford), who was 11th with a 79. The team returns to the links on April 5-6 hosting the College of Mount St. Joseph Invitational at Aston Oaks Golf Course.

3/30/08     Lions compete at the Anderson University Spring Invitational

(Milford, OH/Milford) finished in a tie for 12th place today at the Anderson University Spring Invitational. Barlow shot a two-round score of 163 as the Lions finished seventh out of nine teams. The Mount is back in action on April 3 at the Hanover College Invitational.

3/24/08     College of Mount St. Joseph junior Michael Whalen wins HCAC weekly honor

College of Mount St. Joseph’s Michael Whalen (Norwood, OH/Norwood), who carded a 76 and earned a spot on the All-Invitational team at the Berea Invitational, has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week.

The junior golfer placed third in the event with his five-over par 76 and helped MSJ finish third in the team standings. The conference player of the week award was the first such honor for a Mount men’s golfer.

3/22/08     Mount takes third place at the Berea College Invitational

Michael Whalen (Norwood, OH/Norwood) recorded a 76 to place third today at the Berea College Invitational while teammate Chris Lamb (Fairborn, OH/Fairborn) tied for sixth place with an 80. Both Mount golfers were named to the All-Invitational team, finishing with one of the top five scores. The Lions were third in the team standings, among five schools, with a 330.

The Mount returns to the links on March 29 at the Anderson University Invitational.

3/16/08     Lions open 2008 play with matches at Rose-Hulman and DePauw

The Mount was in action this weekend in two seperate matches, playing in the Rose-Hulman Medal-Match play on Saturday and then in the DePauw University Invitational on Sunday. The Lions, competing head-to-head against Rose-Hulman, shot a 368 to the host team's 350. The Mount finished sixth out of seven teams in the DePauw Invitational.

Chris Lamb (Fairborn, OH/Fairborn) led the way for the Lions in both matches, finishing with an 86 vs. Rose-Hulman and an 88 at DePauw.

The Mount is back in action on March 22 at the Berea College Invitational.


3/14/08     Clinton-Massie High School's Gary Stover III to attend the Mount

The College of Mount St. Joseph officially announces that Clinton-Massie High School senior Gary Stover III has committed to attend the College of Mount St. Joseph and play golf.

Stover, who played the number one position on his high school team, averages 40 over nine holes, was a seven-time match medalist during the 2007 season and made First Team All-SCOL honors. He is also on his school’s Honor Roll, in the top 10 percent of his class and will graduate in May with an Honors Diploma.

Stover is planning on majoring in Business/Finance at the Mount. Gary is the son of Shelly and Gary Stover, Jr.

3/12/08     Hanover College Invitational cancelled; will open at the March 16 DePauw University Tournament

The Mount's 2008 season-opener, the Hanover College Invitational, has been cancelled due to poor course conditions. They will open the season instead on March 16 at the DePauw University Tournament.

1/4/08      Lions set to open the 2008 season

The Mount kicks off the 2008 season with the two-day Hanover College Invitational on March 15-16. The Lions will host the Mount Invitational on April 5-6 at Aston Oaks Golf Course.
