7/8/08 Daleville (IN) High School’s Nathaniel Carroll commits to the College of Mount St. Joseph and will play basketball this winter for the Lions
The College of Mount St. Joseph officially announces that Daleville (IN) High School’s Nathaniel Carroll will attend the College of Mount St. Joseph and play basketball in the winter of 2008 for the Lions.
Carroll, a 6-foot-4 guard/forward, received nine varsity letters between track, cross country, baseball and basketball while in high school. Carroll was a four-year starter and senior captain in basketball. He is the school’s second all-time leading scorer with 1,442 pts, and holds school records for three pointers in a game and career free throw percentage. In addition, he holds school records for single season free throw percentage (87%), steals in a single game (10), steals in a career (179), and three-pointers in a career: (201). During his senior season he averaged 24.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.74 steals and connected on 87% from the free throw line. He was voted MVP the past two years while leading his team to their first sectional title in 23 years. He won the Delaware County scoring title and Delaware County three-point title as a junior and averaged 18.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 85.3% from the free throw line.
The past three seasons he was named First Team All-MEC (Mid-Eastern Conference) and First Team All-Delaware County. As a senior he became one of only five players in Daleville High School history to score 1000 points, was named First Team All-ECI (East Central Indiana), was an Indiana top 10 leading scorer, selected to Indiana’s Post Your All-Star team, named an Indiana top 100 players, and chosen to be an Indiana State High Honorable Mention All-Star Team.
Carroll was also on his school’s Honor Roll. He played for Coach Corey Scott at Daleville. Nathaniel, the son of Ed and Trish Carroll, is planning on majoring in Business Administration.
6/2/08 Ross High School’s Alex Schlake and Chaminade-Julienne High School’s VJ Evans Jr. to attend the College and play basketball this winter
The College of Mount St. Joseph officially announces that Ross High School’s Alex Schlake and Chaminade-Julienne High School’s VJ Evans Jr. will attend the College of Mount St. Joseph and play basketball in the winter of 2008 for the Lions.
Schlake, a 6-foot-6 forward/center, received five varsity letters between soccer and basketball while in high school, was a two-year starter and senior captain in basketball. He averaged 7.4 points and 4.3 rebounds his junior season and 10 points and nearly 4.5 rebounds his senior season. During his junior season he was voted his team’s best defensive player. This past season he was named Second Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention Division II All-Star Team. Schlake was also on his school’s Honor Roll. He played for Sean Van Winkle in high school. Alex, the son of Beate and Bob Schlake, is planning on majoring in Athletic Training.
Evans, a 6-foot-4 guard/forward, received two varsity letters, was a senior starter and captain for his high school team. He played in 20 games his senior season and averaged five points and three rebounds per game. Evans was voted his team’s Most Improved Player for his senior campaign and played for Joe Staley at Chaminade-Julienne. VJ, the son of Vincent Evans Sr. and Angela Vaughn, is planning on majoring in Graphic Design.
5/21/08 Lawrenceburg (IN) High School’s Michael Gloss to attend the College and play basketball this winter
The College of Mount St. Joseph officially announces that Lawrenceburg High School’s Michael Gloss will attend the College of Mount St. Joseph and play basketball in the winter of 2008 for the Lions.
Gloss, a 6-foot-3 center/forward, received two varsity letters while in high school, and was a two-year starter. He averaged four points and four rebounds per game in limited play during his senior season. Gloss won H.M.A.C., All-Sectional, Team Most Improved and best Free Throw Percentage awards during his senior campaign. In addition, he played on his school’s football team, was on the A-B Honor Roll, and in the Key Club.
He played for Mike Pruitt while at Lawrenceburg. Michael, the son of Margaret and William Gloss, is undecided on his major.
5/14/08 Ross High School’s David Lane and Dixie Heights High School’s Kyle Kendall to attend the College and play basketball this winter
The College of Mount St. Joseph officially announces that Ross High School’s David Lane and Dixie Heights High School’s Kyle Kendall will attend the College of Mount St. Joseph and play basketball in the winter of 2008 for the Lions.
Lane, a 5-foot-8 guard, received two varsity letters while in high school, was a two-year starter and one-time captain. He averaged over six points, six assists, three steals and two rebounds per game over his junior and senior seasons. In addition, Lane was a Second Team All-Conference and First Team All-District 15 Underclassmen selection his junior season, and a First Team All-Conference honoree his senior season. Lane won FAVC All-Academic honors, was a Mock Interview Winner, That’s My Boy Award and on this school’s honor roll.
He played for Sean Van Winkle while at Ross. David, the son of Vicki and Randy Lane, is planning on majoring in Sports Management.
Kendall, a 6-foot-3 player who played multiple positions, gained three varsity letters, and was a two-year starter and captain. He averaged 10.5 ppg, five rebounds per game and two assists per game his junior season and 12 ppg, six rebounds per game and two assists per game his senior season. In addition, Kendall, was his team’s top scorer his junior season, made the Toyota Classic All-Academic Team, and was a 34th District All-Tourney selection. His senior season he was won the Kenton County Classic 3.0 Award, made the Kenton County Classic All-Tourney team, was an NKAC All-Conference and All-City Honorable Mention winner.
Kendall, who was on his school’s honor roll, played for Ken Chevalier in high school. Kyle, the son of Becky and Rockie Kendall, is planning on majoring in Business.
