How do I find out about what is happening on campus?
There are a lot of places to look! The Calendar has up-to-date information about times and locations of upcoming events. Also check News.

What are the hours of the Harrington Center?
The center is open the following hours during the academic year:

7am-11pm, Monday-Thursday
7am-9pm, Friday
10am-9pm, Saturday
12pm-9pm, Sunday

There are shortened hours during the summer and over breaks.

Are microwaves permitted in residence hall rooms?
No. Microwaves are not permitted in residence hall rooms at this time. There are microwaves located on each floor for floor use.

Do I have to be Catholic to participate in Campus Ministry programs or events?
Absolutely not! We invite people of all faiths to join in any of our programming. While our mission was formed in the Catholic Christian tradition, we enjoy the discussion and diversity of gifts and opinions offered by people of different faith traditions.

How can I get involved with Campus Ministry?
Events are scheduled throughout the year and you can come to one or all events. Campus Ministry is not a club and something you have to join in order to participate, although there are other programs that do require more than a one time commitment such as F.I.S.H. — Faith In Sharing groups that meet weekly, or being a part of the student leadership team. Campus Ministry 

Where can I go to Mass at the Mount?
Anyone is invited to join us every Sunday night at 9:00 pm in the sixth floor chapel for Sunday Mass. This is an awesome experience for many of our students with great homilies and friendly priests, lively music, and great fellowship and ways to meet new friends who share your faith. 

What is the Office of Multicultural Affairs?
The office initiates programs and services that support the development of a multicultural community; and provides services related to the unique needs of students of color and international students. This office seeks to preserve the rich heritage of multiculturalism by addressing the academic, spiritual, social, and cultural needs of all students.

What are the Police staffing hours?
The police department is here 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Are Campus Police certified police officers?
Campus Police are certified police officers by the state of Ohio, and are here to enforce all criminal laws and policies set by the College of Mt. St. Joseph and have actual arrest powers just like any other police jurisdiction.

Is Orientation mandatory?
Orientation is mandatory for all full-time undergraduate new students including all transfer students. The Orientation fee is automatically charged to every new full-time student's bill. Any student unable to attend must contact Director of Student Development at 513-244-4949.

Part-time traditional students who would like to attend Orientation should call 513-244-4239 to register for Orientation.

Do Transfer Students need to attend Orientation?
A separate Summer Orientation program is scheduled in August for all new transfer students. All transfer students will be contacted directly informing them of the date. Transfer students ARE REQUIRED to attend the separate summer orientation session. Transfer students are invited to attend Welcome Weekend however they are not required.

Should parents attend orientation with their son or daughter? 
Parents are invited to attend the Summer Orientation Sessions with their students. At orientation, there is a special “track” for parents, where they will they have the opportunity to learn more about the resources available to students, meet some key staff and faculty members, and attend sessions to help them understand how to support their students during their college experience.

Welcome Weekend sessions are geared to students only.

How Can I Get Involved on Campus?
There are a variety of opportunities to get involved on campus. The Mount has more than 40 active student clubs and organizations including Student Government Association, the MSJ Dateline student Newspaper, Black Student Union, and the Campus Activities Board. Campus Activities

What is the cost for counseling services?
Counseling services are free to students enrolled in any of the Mount’s academic programs. You can make an appointment with a counselor by calling 513-244-4949.

Who can use the counseling services?
Any student enrolled as a student may utilize the counseling services. Evening appointments are also available if arranged with a counselor.

What happens in counseling?
When you make an appointment with a counselor, you will meet with a trained professional who is dedicated to providing a safe and confidential setting for you to be yourself and work on the reason you are seeking counseling. You and your counselor will set goals and work out a schedule of meeting times. Students come to counseling for a lot of different reasons, including:

  • Feeling alone, homesick, or having difficulty adjust to college life
  • Relationship problems/ family problems
  • Academic problems
  • Feeling sad or hopeless
  • Anxiety about taking tests, making friends, being in groups
  • Problems with self-image or self-esteem
  • Feeling stressed about money or time
