Designed for busy adults, accelerated study at the Mount offers you the opportunity to complete uniquely designed courses and degree programs that meet in nontraditional time frames.
Instructors cover subjects as thoroughly as traditional courses, but follow a different teaching methodology with fewer class contact hours and more independent study. With sustained effort, these learning models provide the opportunity to complete your degree quickly.
How the format works:
Meeting times
Courses require attendance at five to eight class sessions, meeting every two or three weeks. Each class meets for 3 1/2 hours. Classes may meet in the evenings or on Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. - noon, or 1:00-4:30 p.m. Attendance is mandatory in order to achieve established learning goals.
Pre-assignments
Each accelerated course has a pre-assignment that must be completed before the first class session. This preliminary work along with a significant amount of independent study between classes are integral to this format.
Registration
You must register for the class at least one week in advance to ensure the completion of the pre-assignment. In order to thoroughly prepare for these accelerated courses, you are encouraged to start the pre-assignment three to four weeks in advance.
Terms
The Mount offers accelerated courses in fall, winter/spring, and summer opportunities.
