The Music Department for the College of Mount St. Joseph offers a variety of scholarships and grants to qualifying Music Majors.  These scholarships are awarded in addition to any academic scholarship for which the student is eligible.

Talent-Based Scholarships for 2009-2010

The College of Mount St. Joseph Music Department offers Talent Scholarships to prospective students majoring in music that range from $1500 to $3500.   

Criteria:
1.  A prospective Mount student who is majoring in music.
2.  A high school or college GPA of 3.0 or better by the end of the Spring Semester.  
3.  An audition.

The selection of the recipient of the award shall be at the sole discretion of the Music Department.  These scholarships are renewable for up to four (4) years based on maintaining a 3.0 or better GPA and meeting all performance jury requirements.

Deadline for application and audition:  January 15 to March 31, 2009.

Fr. Angelo della Picca Scholarship

This $1000.00 per year scholarship was established to support and to assist in the education of a music student who is entering the College of Mount St. Joseph or who is currently enrolled at the Mount.  This scholarship has been established to honor Fr. Angelo della Picca, Professor of Music, who has given over 30 years of service to the College, in recognition of his love and devotion to music and education.

Criteria:
1.  A prospective or current Mount student majoring in music who intends to pursue a career in a ministry sponsored by the Catholic Church or an affiliated organization.
2.  A high school or college GPA of 3.0 or better by the end of the Spring Semester.
3.  An audition.
4.  An essay (minimum of one page) describing what music means to the applicant and how music has influenced the applicant’s life.

Special preferences will be given to Catholic students.

The selection of the recipient of the award shall be at the sole discretion of the Music Department.  This scholarship is renewable based on maintaining the above criteria.

Deadline for application, audition, and essay:  January 15 to March 31, 2009.

Sister Loretto Burke Scholarship

This $500.00 per year scholarship was established to support and assist in the education of a music student who is entering the College of Mount St. Joseph or who is currently enrolled at the Mount.  This scholarship has been established to honor Sister Loretto Burke.

Criteria:
1.  A prospective or current Mount student who is majoring in music.
2.  A high school or college GPA of 3.0 or better by the end of the Spring Semester.
3.  Student must carry 12 semester hours each semester of the scholarship.
4.  An audition.

The selection of the recipient of the award shall be at the sole discretion of the Music Department.  This scholarship is renewable based on maintaining the above criteria.

Deadline for application and audition:  January 15 to March 31, 2009.

Band Grant for Music Majors

The College of Mount St. Joseph Music Department offers a tuition remission grant of $1500.00 per year for prospective or current music majors who participate in the Lion’s Roar Marching Band and the Campus Concert Band.

Criteria:
1.  A prospective or current Mount student majoring in music.
2.  Student must register or audit the classes.
3.  Student must adhere to all attendance and participation guidelines as set forth by the Band Director.
This grant supersedes any other Grant offered to band students.
