Audition requirements
Every new student must be prepared to perform two musical selections of contrasting style. Non-"popular" music is preferred. In addition, prospective students must:

  • be interviewed by the Director of the Music Department
  • take a basic theory entrance/placement test
  • complete a simple keyboard skills test (on piano)

Background
The successful music major is one who has previous musical experience as a member of a band, choir or orchestra, or simply has received instruction in voice or an instrument. In addition, the individual must have a strong dedication to the profession of music and be willing to dedicate much time and energy toward successful completion of the program.
