History
A major in history prepares the student indirectly for a wide range of career possibilities in areas such as law, government services, education, business and industry, communications and archival or museum work. The study of history results in the development of skills fundamental for success in the work place which include strong written communication, organizational, critical thinking and research skills. Above all, the study of history helps the student understand how our complex world, with all its intricate political, economic and social relationships, has been shaped and how it works.
An undergraduate history major is also excellent preparation for graduate school in business administration, education, law, social work, communications and other areas. Some students obtain licensure for Adolescent and Young Adult Education to teach in secondary education.
