The coaching minor is an opportunity for students to obtain foundational coaching knowledge and skills which will facilitate a greater involvement and participation in their schools and communities.
In training to be a coach, students will appreciate that a foundation for effective and excellent coaching is the respect and concern that a coach has for his/her athletes. They will learn to recognize the physical and emotional strengths and limitations of each person they are going to coach, and how to motivate them to achieve a higher level of performance.
Finally, students will develop a greater awareness of the critical role that integrity plays in the discipline of coaching.
