A major in accounting at the Mount provides the student with the technical skills necessary to qualify for the Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) or the Certificate in Management Accounting (C.M.A.) examination and enhances those skills with a solid background in the liberal arts. A total of 150 hours are needed to sit for the C.P.A. examination.
The accounting graduate is well prepared for a career in accounting, or to pursue graduate studies leading to an advanced degree. Emphasis also is placed on developing interpersonal skills, fine tuning analytical abilities and increasing understanding of ethics in the business environment.
Cooperative education opportunities play an important part in preparing Mount students for a successful business career.
