Individual Career Consultation
Currently enrolled students and alums are encouraged to make an appointment with a career advisor to discuss their career plans. Freshmen to seniors to alums are encouraged to call 513-244-4721 to set up an appointment with a career advisor.
CED 150 Career Exploration for Undeclared Majors
A one credit hour course for students in their freshman and sophomore years that have not chosen a major. Topics covered include career decision making and how interests, skills and values relate to career choices. Students acquire information about educational and career options. Emphasis is on self-evaluation, decision making and goal setting.
Career Assessment Instruments
No, there are not any "tests" that will tell students what to major in or do with the rest of their lives. However, the career advisors do use several exercises to assist students in the self-assessment stage of the Career Development Process. These can provide valuable information needed in the career decision making process.
DISCOVER is a computer assisted career guidance system in which students can answer questions about interests, abilities, experiences, and values; relate those to the world-of-work; and locate detailed information about specific occupations. Students may also use DISCOVER to locate graduate school programs.
The Self Directed Search is a pencil and paper instrument where students can answer questions about their interests, competencies, occupations, and abilities and relate those to occupations in six major groupings.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a personality assessment used to assist students in assessing their personality characteristics and how they relate to certain broad career interests.
Resume Critique
Students and alums may drop off their resumes in the Career and Experiential Education Center to be critiqued by a staff member. It is recommended that the person make a follow-up appointment to discuss the resume with a career advisor. Occasionally the resume may be mailed back to the person or discussed over the phone.
Workshops and Seminars
A variety of career-related workshops are offered each semester. Workshop topics typically include resume and cover letter development, job search strategies, and interviewing skills.
Mock Interview Program
The Career Development staff can video tape an interview with students or alums. This is usually a 20 minute general interview where the candidate is asked typical interview questions. Following the mock interview, the career advisor will review the tape with the candidate. Students should have a resume completed prior to requesting the mock interview.
On/Off Campus Recruiting
Occasionally employers are interested in coming to campus each semester to recruit students. There is generally more recruiting activity in the spring. The schedule depends on the employers’ interest and the availability of qualified candidates. If there is not a sufficient number of candidates to warrant on-campus interviewing, resumes will be referred to the employer for off-campus interviewing.
Resume Referral Service
The majority of our efforts are concentrated on connecting students who are looking for professional positions with employers who are seeking college graduates. To register for the Resume Referral Service, Seniors and alumni must have an eRecruiting account with our office.
Job Postings
All professional level positions sent to the Career Center by area employers may be viewed through your eRecruiting account.

Kaleidoscope of Careers - Career Fair
Every year, typically in March, the Career and Experiential Education Center hosts the Kaleidoscope of Careers - Career Fair. Students interested in Cooperative Education or graduate employment are encouraged to attend to network with employers in the Greater Cincinnati area. It is the Mount's major on-campus recruiting event and is held once a year.
Career Resource Library
