Today was a work day at the cemetery, and I never knew that a tiny little plum tree can have a HUGE root below the ground that felt as if it was connected to China.  Some of us pulled those roots out because if we didn't, they would take over the whole entire cemetery.  The other part of the crew worked on basic clean up of the cemetary and the last 2 worked on plotting out the entire cemetery.

After a long hot day we got to come home to clean up and make dinner.

After that the day was not even close to being finished.  We headed over to Red Cloud School for the Annual Pow Wow for the graduates.  It was so neat to see everyone and how most of their families make their outfits and they truly show how much time and effort is really put into making them.  Before the main entrance of everyone they had a wiping of the tears ceremony which is a ritual at every Pow Wow which is basically a healing of someone whose had a death in the family recently or that year.  It was truly amazing to see everyone from the community went down to those people sitting in a row and spoke good words and gave them hugs.  Being here you really do see how they come together as a community and help each other out whether it be emotionally, and any other way a person may need help in the community.

After that, the main entrance came in everyone marched into the gym with the drums pounding and what would sound to us like chanting to them they were singing in Lakota, just hearing the beat of the drums really makes you a part of the Pow Wow and it is a very powerful experience.  It was neat how they recognized the Seniors and gave them a chance to get out on the floor and dance.  One of the Seniors did a class project on the Pow Wow and coming together as a community then she did a dance for all of us.  We looked at it as what would be our Baccalaureate Mass.

I think we all wanted to get out on the floor and dance with them.  I know I sure did.  It was then time to take the hour drive home we were exhausted by the end of the day.
