Letters from the Rez: A Closer Look at Cultural Immersion

Every year, students from the Mount take a trip out west to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, one of the poorest areas in the United States.  While they are there, they help the Lakota people by offering their time and services.  In turn, the students get a good look at a the Lakota Nation, proud people with little to offer monetarily but much to offer spiritually.

We call it Cultural Immersion and we are immersed in several parts of the country including the Appalachian region and the Mexican Border.

Take an insider’s look as Chris, a Mount student, and Stephanie, an alumni, share their experiences through Letters from the Rez.

Also, watch a video on what other students say about the Cultural Immersion experience.
