Common goals link the majors in the Humanities Department:

- enhancement of thinking and communication skills essential in today's complex society.
The department offers majors in communication studies, English, liberal studies, and history. Minors are offered in American studies, communication studies, English, history, philosophy, women's studies, and written communication. Course sequences in modern foreign languages are also available.
The majors within the Humanities Department are frequently chosen by students intending to pursue a law degree.
