Art, Fine Arts and Art Education, Graphic Design and Interior Design programs are administered by the Department of Art & Design located in the Dorothy Meyer Ziv Art Building.
All programs are designed to prepare students to use the arts intelligently in their own lives; to refine their skills in various techniques and media; to develop their aesthetic awareness and creative visual expression; to foster an understanding and appreciation of the arts of other ages and cultures, as well as those of their own time and place.
Presentation of a portfolio to the art faculty by prospective students is encouraged but not required. Formal admission to the Department of Art & Design is contingent upon submission of a portfolio of college-level work to the art faculty for its review and determination. The portfolio is to be submitted after completion of 18 hours of art courses at the Mount. This procedure usually occurs in the second semester of the sophomore year. Transfer students may apply after the completion of 18 hours of art courses at the college level, with the last 6 hours completed at the Mount.
