Student teaching is a major component in every resident educator licensure program. To be eligible for a student teaching placement, the candidate must:
- Be officially admitted to the licensure program.
- Have an official BCI/FBI background check on file in the Education office
- Apply by the posted deadline.
- Have an overall 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Earn a grade of “C” or better in all required licensure courses.
- Verify CPR and first aid certification.
- Complete all required field clinical experience hours.
- Obtain advisor’s approval.
- Meet finger-printing/background check requirements.
- Have documentation of attendance at one local, state, regional, or national conference.
Transfer students in graduate licensure programs must complete the residency requirement at the Mount before becoming eligible to student teach. A minimum of twelve weeks of full-time student teaching is required for licensure.
